“Froch is a great fighter with a fantastic chin, so I know how hard it is going to be to beat him. No one has managed so far in the professional ranks. I am not kidding myself how difficult it is going to be, but Froch is my type of fighter. He stands in the center of the ring like me and never takes a step backwards. That is the sort of fighter I have been knocking over since I became a professional.”

    fair comment by kessler.

and relating to the thread about power and the transition from amateur to pro - the only fighters you will see as awkward in the ring and at the top of the standings (like froch and margarito) get there by having a cast iron chin and relying on their power and their ability to take shots against technically proficient fighters - otherwise if their chin wasn't granite you never would have heard of them.

so, yes, kessler is right in what he says.
but because froch has made it this far says a lot about his fortitude, heart and resilience.
kessler has to fight smart and use his technical advantages because a toe to toe against froch will likely end badly for him.

EDIT : neither kessler nor froch are versatile fighters though so i'm interested to see who will prevail.

Stylistic wise if dirrel and aa is the most boring matchup then this is by far and away the best match up in the tournament imo. Two guys who love to stand and trade I think we might see a re run of froch pascal. I think froch is going to ko him in the 10th.

This is going to be a war, certainly going to be the best fight of the tournament so far I'd say

Can you imagine what the Kessler of the Andrade fight would do to Froch? You'd have people scampering around the ring to try to bag up his left-overs. If only Mikkel could regain that kind of form.

In theory Kessler is right, he punches straighter has good power and can throw conventional punches correctly. Froch on the other hand reaches with punches,is slow and will compromise technique when he gets into exchanges, plus he loads up big punches and leaves himself wide open.

However we dont really know how good Kessler's chin is in truth, now im not saying Froch is a huge puncher because i think his power is overrated but if!! Kessler does have a shaky chin then that is the only way i can see Froch winning this.

I think it was Haussler that momentarily dipped Kessler's legs, dont know if there was anything in it but its food for thought.

you'll notice 'gooners' started his post above with "in theory".
good to remember that, especially in a sport like boxing ;)

there is no 'rock, paper. scissors' in boxing.
and remember, taylor is a better boxer than kessler is too.

    You're thinking about Sartison.

Froch is better than Andrade - I think Froch has a little more skill than Andrade. I wouldn't be surprised if Froch prevails.

Nope, Haeusler didn't do anything, got dispatched easily. It is well known what bothers Kessler... none of that is Froch's weapon.. and to find a technically better stand up fighter than Kessler, you'll have to look hard. Unless Kessler is over the hill, I see it as a repeat of Andrade beating.

It was either Haussler or Sartison but one of them definitely dipped his legs momentarily.

Like I stated in a post above it was Sartison. He clipped Kessler in the first round with a shot that caught him completely off guard. Kessler recovered very very quickly. If anything it spoke in favor of Kessler having a good chin.
