Interesting matchup, Bruno was a little less stiff during this time. He boxed well at range. I would pick him to defeat Byrd, especially considering the Klit brothers both had good success using their height to box at range.
I am going with Byrd. I think he was the more reliable quantity, and would probably come through some bad moments to win by decision or late TKO.
All of the big guys with jabs troubled Byrd, both Klits, Golotta (should have 1), even McCline, he even got a gift against Oquendo. Bruno doesnt have to worry about being stunned and has a great jab, big power, range, strength. Bruno dominates this match up and its not that close
Bruno would beat Byrd without being gassed. Bruno was a very underrated champ who had very good boxing skills and a lot of power. Just think of how good he could have been if he had Manny Steward as a trainer. Bruno beats Byrd easily.
I can't believe Byrd has even got a vote in this, the only people Bruno ever lost to were those that carried a bomb, Byrd doesn't. Bruno out-boxed every guy he ever fought apart from Mike Tyson yet Byrd would pose him problems and maybe stop him late? No chance in hell, Bruno would beat the living **** out of Byrd like Ibeabuchi did.
Is this a joke??? I thought guys in Classic knew their stuff but this is waaaay off. Any of you even remember how good Byrd was in his prime. He boxed circles around Tua without being touched. Ike was a monster who put on a heck of a performance fighting super smart fight and even then Byrd was giving him all he could handle till Ikes body work caught up and he managed to stop Byrd with one of most vicious punches I ever saw... No way would someone as stiff as Bruno manage what Ike did or Wladimir. Byrd boxes circles around Bruno. And for the record. Byrd was past his best against Golota and McCline. He was at him peak in 2000. Andrey
Byrd would be game but a little to cutesy to hang with someone with the raw physicality of a Bruno. Bruno by KO.
Id go with Byrd, Bruno was slow, cant see prime Byrd losing to a slow basic 1-2 fighter, he faced plenty of strong heavyweights but the top gusy were all much better tha Bruno
Unbelievable atsch Bruno is stiff yet WALDO isn't...Bruno would jab the face off Byrd exactly like WALDO did, except he wouldn't be anywhere near as cautious.
Thats the difference. You cant compare Bruno to Tua or even Ibeabuchi. Bruno boxed tall, he would give Byrd a lot of trouble.
Bruno had a lot going for him, very similar fighter to WALDO even though the Klit-ites won't admit it. I've absolutely no doubt that he'd beat Byrd at range until he landed a big shot - then the fights over.
And those who were genuinely world class, with verry few exceptions. Obviously I have more doubts about Bruno than most here.
