why did Taylor reject to fight Froch the 1st time round?

and opt to fight Jeff Lacy?

when Calzaghe vacated the title Froch and Taylor were the two top ranks by the WBC, Taylor rejected the fight and Pascal was next on the list.

Then when talks started a 2nd time Taylor would only take it if it was in America.

Was it purely because Froch wasn't well known, or did Taylor think the risk was too great at that time?

don't forget froch getting the taylor fight was a gift for him - because how often does a fighter who doesn't crack the US ever get the chance to fight an established name who is?

froch was (is) a paper champion - albeit on a different playing field now because he's beaten taylor and dirrell - so it was common sense for taylor to chase lacy first.

rankings don't mean **** if the other fighter doesn't give you bums on seats or rep points.

Yeah that plus I could ****in beat Lacy who was for some reason still considered a name at the time , it was easy money , and easy rep points

its because america runs boxing and the deluded american public thought lacy is a better fighter than froch because they haven't a clue about anything that happens outside their own country.

As said above - Money. HBO weren't interested in Froch-Taylor, they wanted Taylor-Lacy.

they weren't interested when it finally was signed, because Showtime showed the fight.

Actually it was because Lacy was more money and the fight that HBO wanted.

This was a nice try though!
