I think this is a much tougher fight than many people think it would be. Many people don't even know who Licata is but he was a hell of a middleweight back in the day who just wasn't up to the challenge against Monzon and he had some real quality victories...including Emile Griffith(who's probably the closest in body type to LaMotta).
Licata was certainly very tough. He took a real spanking vs. Monzon. But I'm not sure he can stop LaMotta closing the distance, in all honesty.
A game Licata gets out hustled all the way by LaMotta. Maybe, Licata lasts the distance or gets stopped late - but he loses.
This would be a massacre, Licata was a tough kid, end of story, he failed against the best of his era . Griffith ? Griffith was 36 years old and had lost 4 of his last 5 fights! I saw Licata take a one sided pasting from Alan Minter, being knocked down 3 times before being stopped in the 6th.Lamotta would chew Minter up. Licata takes an ugly beating here. Try and make them more competitive.:good
Yeah, Licata was nothing special.Competent enough standup fighter, but like mcvey says, Minter decimated him and overall i think he was the worst of Monzon's challengers.
