He has defended his portion of the World title about a dozen or so times so i guess now would be a decent time to attempt a unification fight . Solid enough lad though .
That Wbo fella Lopez ( I think ) would be a decent matchup , Gamboa as mentioned would be a barn burner imo as well ,, Did you catch that article i put up on the thread i made on Les Darcy ,listed below mate ?
i would laugh at that as well Flamer mate but sadly it smacks too much of the truth these days . these ABC's and ABC wannabe's are doing my head in of late , i was talking to an old mate of mine a few days back (Ex pro)and he was started laughing when i asked him if he knew who was the heavyweight champ these days , he fluked it when he named Klitch but didn't know which one .:-(
It becomes even more pathetic when a question is raised "Who's the WBA Whateverweight Champ" Three answers can be given for the same division. Taking it to new exremes.
What are there these days ? 64 blokes claiming to be " World Champ" ? good reading yours Max's etc view on another thread re this topic though ,
Mate... aim a little higher, closer to 100 fighters would hold claim to the numbers of 'World' title belts available... not sure which side of 100 though. Wouldn't be far off in suggesting there's close to 150 'World' title belts available. But we need more champions??? FFS.
Flamer a decent argument can be made for going back to the original 8 divisions and an even bigger argument can be made for one Champ per weight , ok its a promoters dream to bill some of these guys as (Champion of the World ) but anyone taking it as read that they are indeed THE World Champ has to have rocks in their head , it will be the death of the sport as a serious sport imo .
The game wont die Josey, but legitimate LEGENDARY status will pretty much be curtailed. Almost all promotions these days have some kind of belt to offer in hope of enticing young fans along, and all PPV's are for a World title of some descript for the sake of adding a bit of glitter and glamour to the event; exactly what the promotion companies hoped for... it's just the way things have gone for the last 20+ years. C'est la vie. It's great to see a local fighter pick up a belt, but failing to defend against quality oposition is another reason to draw the line. The prevelance of belts now outweight the respect of the belts. When fighters no longer give a **** its a pretty bad reflection on current situations.
**** IT , I'm going back to the One World one Champ opinion now mate , Chris John is adecent holder of a fragmented title in the same way as Joe Calzaghe and David Haye were before they Unified their respective divisions , no longer will i have any truck with fighters that don't attempt unification , i know i'm in for a long wait to see these unification fights take place but sometimes quality is far better than quantity , no longer will i buy PPV unless it has at least TWO of the recognised FOUR versions of THE title on the line . second tier fighters are only doing what their second tier so called fans let them get away with ,enough is enough .
So are you saying that your only going to watch top shelf fights...maybe 5 or 6 cards a year? Dont you enjoy watching boxing on all levels mate? I enjoy watching good fights....you know even matches....they dont need to be 44-0 with 2 titles I love the Friday night fights on Fox here in AUST.....what about fights like Alex V Bob....they wont be unifying divisions anytime soon but its going to be fun watching fights like this? I guess you will miss the Vic and Zappa card as well.:hi:
Seriously there are actually ****ing lunatics out there that actually would PPV that ****.Must be or whats the point of buying "World Titles " off the WBA etc if not for profit ? It can't be a prestige thing as even the most ******ed fan knows the score these days , ( or do they ) ....:think
