No it would not. The P4P ranking (which is 100% subjective BTW) is not a belt or title that gets passed on from fight to fight.
Wow...he wanted to fight BIG NAMES, and you want to give him major props for that? He could have fought Kirkland Lang, but said he was not known enough. Allen Green challenged him, but got no response. All of your "probably's" don't mean squat.
No one was obligated to fight him. He isn't spending enough time in one division to get a ranking and EARNING a big fight. He's just looking for big names. And you think that's the most ballsy thing the past 7 years?atsch
kirkland is like 16 fights into his career? ****ing allen green is a supermiddle weight dog... get for real.. pavlik who is a lifetime middleweight has fought above mw only twice.. pw is like a natural 154'er so wtf are you talking about don't matter... he still fighting the most challenging fights at the respective weight class most feared @ 147 @ the time = margarito most feared @ 154 @ the time = martinez most feared @ 160 @ the time = pavlik give props were props are due... he's a warrior & more warrior than your favorite fighter so? will FIGHT ANYONE from 147-160....
So what? Kirkland has good press and a network behind him. Why not? I'll tell you why, and this is from PW...he wasn't KNOWN ENOUGH. Please consider the irony of that statement. He said he'd fight BERNARD HOPKINS, who's BIGGER then Green. Too bad Green isn't a BIGGER name I guess, right? Wow...more a warrior then my fave? Really? You ACTUALLY went there? What else...your daddy can beat up my daddy? :roflatsch Dude...that "most feared" talk is nothing but promoter speak. They got you really well. (Cue Scar to come in and cry about Margarito AS USUAL:roll You mean anyone with a belt or that's a bigger name then he is.
whether you think he's overhyped or not, overrated or not...the man is in some exciting fights. he's a flawed fighter whose willing to go to war...often times those make for the most exciting fighters. he's good for boxing. i'm still gonna hope for a pav fight.
A) kirkland IS NOT ****ING READY for williams... lets be serious .. your reaching for straws. B) I can't knock you for that.... its true... allan green weak tho... high risk low reward C) **** the most feared ****... he beating dudes that other people have no interest in fighting... he is the true ghost buster... fights people that nobody wants to fight D) hell fight anyone, any time any where.. end of story..
If no one was interested in fighting those guys, they'd be 0-0-0. They weren't. It's not up to you to say who's ready for who. Kirkland vs. Williams would have been an entertaining all action scrap. And if you give PW a pass for not fighting high risk, low reward fights like Green, then don't throw a hissy fit when that is used AGAINST PW as well. LIke I said, no one was obligated to fight him. He held a belt that holds you back, that being the WBO belt. And no, since I showed a couple fights the he turned down, he will NOT fight anyone anywhere anytime obviously.
All you damn bitchy critics are what is wrong with boxing fans. We finally get a unique and exciting fighter(notice how I didn't say perfect or invincible) who possesses the combination of heart, workrate, physical tools, stamina for days and a willingness to hop between three weight classes and all you do is tear him down. He deserves some hype for the fact that he's willing to face anyone and mix it up in order to win. What really makes him exciting is that he does show flaws but finds ways to overcome them(such as upping his punch rate when opponent is consistently finding him). You never know what you're going to get in each of his fights(him getting dropped by Martinez only to start walking through the same shot that dropped him wowed me beyond words) He's an anomaly in the sport who should be appreciated. You don't too often see such as oldschool attitude in modern boxing.
How was Martinez the #1 LMW? How about Dzinziruk, the one that called your boy out three times publically, and was shut down three times for the sole reason that he's not a big name. Yet Martinez was a big name? How does he beat the **** out of Cotto, when Cotto is the superior defensive boxer, compared with the likes of Quintana? I think he beats Cotto, but I think he'd have to eat leather in order to beat Cotto, everyone else had to.
