Paul Williams Why all the Hype?

Kirkland matches up with PWill just fine. The guy can match PWill in frequency, also is a bigger puncher, likely has a stronger chin and likes to fight someone who is physically weaker than him, but willing to engage in a war.

 

If Kirkland lobbied hard enough, sure. The promoter doesn't have the final say all the time.

 

Williams in NO WAY "dispensed" with Margarito.He won a close decision over a lack lustre ring rusty Margarito. donald duck mayfeather is scared shitless of margarito as we all know.
Sergio Martinez dropped Williams & hit him practically at will & really deseved the decision in their fight.
Williams is not all they claim him to be

James Kirkland is pure hype, a Southpaw Jeff Lacy.

He's good but not nearly as good as some make out to be. Very close fights with Margo, defeat to Quintana and controversial win over Martinez doesnt secure his spot all that well really.

Top 10 p4p borderline.

 

It's obvious the TS is trying to trash him rather than be objective using opposing viewpoints to fairly evaluate him. Once you do decided to do this you end up seeing an exciting fighter to watch with enough weaknesses to somewaht balance out his many gift attributes....and big enough balls to not care and just fight

 

This post/exchange pretty much sums it up for me. The fan boy who just crawled from a cradle buying into prom's talk who really make a young exciting and perspective fighter disgusting to real fight fans by hyping him to unrepresented heights. What I really don't understand, are most of american journalists on Goossen's payrole too?

 

I usually don't like to bring the race issue up in sports but...........

If Paul Williams brought the same attributes to the table and was anything but a black man he would have tremendous support/following! There are/were tons of fighters with less attributes than PW but have a better following because of their race!!

People will try to act as if that aint the case but these are the same people who think racism doesn't exist in America anymore!!!

PS: Like i said earlier i'm not one to bring up race even if i'm being baited to do so but I just finish watching Malcolm X

You said yourself that PW is an exiting fighter and his style makes for good fights so why don't you think he is as marketable as some other fighters???

 

The problem is not skin colour but lack of personality. Dawson has the same problem.

 

I will definitely agree with that!! I have said in numerous post that PW has to learn how to market himself!!!!! But there are cases where guys who have dull personalities still have a better following and are marketed better!!!
