On a sidenote regards to avi, I also love Randolph Turpin too, he's my favourite British fighter of all time (Him and Benny Lynch), wished he had been managed and supported better so he could of developed more, I believe he could of been the greatest British fighter ever had he reached his potential, same goes for Benny, such great fighters could of been so much greater.:-(

 

Gomez is alot better boxer, harder to hit, hits harder and is more accurate

he was a hard little *******.fast feet and hands and a concrete chin.

 

The way he destroyed Peter Kane ( altough only 19 admittedely) was incredible , it was just non stop brutal beating, it was that bad that Kane actually quit (stayed down on a knee) Kane knew he was out of his depth and could'nt beat the man, such a ferocouis fighter.

It pisse's me off that people my age (eighteen) think Calzaghe and Hatton are better fighters than Lynch and Turpin just because there not undefeated or well known these days.

 

i love turpin but lynch is on another level.when he battered jackie brown his hands were a blur.i used to work with a bloke who saw that fight and said wee benny was unbelievable.

if tommy was still alive, and i haven't seen him since 1977, he'd be about 97 or so.

could you imagine what the atmosphere must of been like that night, must of been incredible that was at a time when boxing meant somthing to the people.
