From Unbeaten Beasts to Broken Men. Fighters Who Really were never the same again???

He may gained revenge in the Vaca rematch, but the Raggamuffin Man, never really got over losing his '0' and was finished as an elite class fighter.

Outside of these Islands, some recent-ish examples would be Carlos Gonzales, John Mugabi and Alfonso Zamora, although perhaps that was because they were more hype than substance

 

Mijares is a great example. He was so dominant before the Darchinyan episode. Forget the joke scorecards that say he won SD's, he was dominant hence why there was a huge bandwagon on here before it was derailed.

Now suddenly after that loss (albeit a brutal one) he can't beat a guy that wasn't on his level before.

I think this applies to my top 2 AT favourite fighters to be honest :

Although Oscar was on the end of a bad decision against Tito for me the Mosley 1 fight took the fight from Oscar .

And the other more obvious one is Mayweather Hatton , Ricky was walking through shots before Floyd and then looked slightly hurt against Lazcano and Manny did what he did . Edislary Landy also said Hatton cant take a crack no more post Pacquiao camp after sparring with him .

 

Don't know if this counts with the original critera, but for a while, James Toney after his loss to Jones.

For the best part of a decade he seemed to just lose his way, losing twice to Griffin and once to Drake Thadzi, fighting in meaningless fights for WBU titles, etc.
It wasn't until the Jirov fight in '03 did he, or his career, really pick up any notable form again.

 

Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

He was getting a load of hype and (boxing) media attention as being some fearsome beast out to terrorize the heavyweight division with his high KO percentage, immense size, amateur victories over Lennox Lewis & Riddick Bowe, supreme arrogance and contempt for all his opponents...

Then Bowe squashed him. His career went to **** after that.

Most of Calzaghe's opponents lost immediately after the fights with Calzaghe. Usually in more brutal fashion... in fact a lot of them lost before fighting Calzaghe.... maybe the thought of one day fighting him- ruined them. What a fighter.

 

George Foreman was never the same after his loss to Muhammad Ali, he style was completly different he started doing that bouncing around crap and pawing and open handed shots, instead of planting his feet and frowing solid punches like he used to.
