inspired by the previous thread of how a prime mancini would have fought a prime greg haugen. livingstone bramble is very unknown to me. i have see very little footage and i was very young at the time that he was fighting but there has been many comments that he was a very strong worthy champion. haugen and paz are cut of the same cloth how would each have done against the guy that beat ray twice.
I think he destroys Paz, stops him late on cuts, while Haugen also loses but via close decision. Bramble is an interesting study, man, look him up. Super long arms, and he'd tuck them in against his sides, making him almost invulnerable from attack to his body or chin. Then he'd step inside and rifle uppercuts up the middle. Everyone thought he was just a colorful guy lucky to have faced such a stylistic gift as Mancini, but then he completely dismantled and stopped a very talented mover in Tyrone Crawley. At that time, KO magazine had him ranked third pound for pound.
I was quite bit shocked when "Chapo" Edwin Rosario KOed him. But then again, it could always happen with a fighter like Rasario What was Bramble's nickname again ??
Paz would do well with him because he had in and out movement, Chapo took him out quick, Bramble had the right style for a fading Mancini, he followed Alex Arguello's plan of condition and out lasting Mancini. Chapo hit too hard at that weight,Chapo even had the durable Hector Camacho hurt serious in there fight at the garden but Chavez outworked Chapo
1983 I saw him fight G.Hart (McCallum and Simon Brown on same card) I always thought of him as a boxer turned banger for some reason. I remember looking forward to the Rosario fight and "Shocked" discribes my reaction to hearing the results perfectly! I believe his nickname was "Pit Bull". He had a long career.
I posted that Ray would beat Haugen and with the success Bramble had w/Boom Boom I gotta pick Bramble also over both Haugen and Vinny.
No way would Bramble stop Haugen. While we're on the subject, I really liked Bramble, some of his interviews were a hoot. He was a real crackpot.
Chavez "Outworked" Rosario?! He beat him within an inch of his life! Brutale fight. Bramble would defeat both Haugen & Paz. His work rate & Haugen could not hurt Bramble, would give the decision to Bramble. Pazienza's speed would make this one pretty close. But cuts would be a major issue for Paz. Bramble likes to mix it up (& occasionally rubs his dreadlocks into the wound also). Paz. would be a mess by the late rounds.
They would both lose decisions to Bramble, but Paz's ability, combined with his mobility, will cause more problems for Bramble than Haugen will.
:yep I agree Bramble would be all wrong for Pazienza.. (and just an all around better fighter). Pazienza aggresive, speed jumpy style, flawed defense would play right into Bramble s hardcounterpunchhing style...Make no mistake he had an excellent chin, getting kod by Rosario(one of the greatest punchers of the last 30yrs) could happen to the best of chins... Style wise Haugen -Pazienza were close matchups(thought Paz edged first Haugen won 2nd in competetive but convincing, but dont think Paz would do as well vs Bramble.... Early and mid rounds would be evenly fought with Paz aggressivenss and flashy combos winning him some rounds... By the 8th or so Brambles sharp counters would start busting up paz. after sweeping the next few rounds, Bramble turns Pazs face into a smashed Pizza and the ref stops it... Bramble tko 11 or 12. Haugens prime he was cagey enough to adapt to most styles and only a ATGs like a Whittaker or Chavez type dominate him.... Haugen would steal a number of rounds but the strong bigger and harderpunching Brambles would make the difference. Bramble by close but convincing decision.
