This would re-ignite the heavyweight division. Sure, most HW's would be too chicken**** to submit to this format, but I would pay $100 for a pay per view. Both Klit's, Tua, Areola, Peter, Haye (early KO victim), Valuev (possible winner) Ruiz, Povetkin, Boytsov...
What we are going to have a few white fighters groping and crouching as well, for a pittance? I am a traditionalist, but even I recognize this would be step too far back into the dark ages; pun intended.
There are no stupid threads only drunk and terribly witty thread starters... or do we need another 500 threads on "ol'-timers v. post modern heavyweights" where the same 10 posters drag out the same tired, slumber-inducing wildly speculative arguments in an exercise of mental self flagellation?
I'm not trying to start an altercation with you, i just really am not fond of the idea, i do think it's not right. Considering the nature of the original battle royales i'd rather leave them where they are, in history.
it was a joke... can you imagine some of these primped and preened, steriod-ed, fake-tanned, contract-negotiating, evian-swilling fighters of today getting into a ring with half a dozen other fighters in an anything goes scenario? therein was the contrast i was so cleverly trying to illuminate.
We should not bring back the battle royale for the same reasons that we should not resume feeding people to lions in ampitheatres.
