The thread matching Morales-Fenech got me thinking of this fight.Fenech dominates a younger (and far less weathered) Zaragoza who a decade later would give Eric Morales a decent tussle when Morales won his first title. In fact if memory serves me I think Zaragoza might have been ahead on the cards at the time of the stoppage.

This was a decent fight and a good performance by Jeff against a tough opponent and it shows just how relentless and physically conditioned he was in his prime. It makes me think that Jeff would've give Morales all he could handle.

    I hope you enjoy.

Impressive performance by Fenech, I think even with all things evened out he faced a better Zaragoza.

Dan was more wiley and skilled by the time he took on Morales but was definitely faster and better conditioned here, clearly with less miles on him.
Erik had quite a bit of trouble with Zaragoza but was in the drivers seat by the end and Im pretty sure he was clear by a couple of points on at least two of the judges cards.

Fenech would have beaten Erik I feel.

I think both these guys were just shy of their peaks here (IMO they each hit their respective peaks upon winning the jr. feather title), but Zaragoza still looks much better here than he was more than a decade later when he was old, slow, and badly shopworn. Fenech definitely beat a better version of Zaragoza than Morales did IMO and even more impressively.

Even regardless of their comparative performances, however, I'd still favor Fenech to beat Morales at 122.
