I think Jimmy Young was only down twice... Knocked out while green against Shavers, knocked down in the rematch as well.

Besides that, don't know if his ass ever hit the canvas. I know Cooney gave him a vagina looking cut on his face, Young was on his feet at the end of the fight via TKO.

Not too bad, only being down twice against the hardest HW puncher of all time.

I have no idea. I don't think I even saw the fight, it's just a factoid stored somewhere in my head. I wasn't even sure it was right.

Correct, Big Ross has never taken a count as far as i know. The Vitali and Miroshenko losses were on cuts and the 1st round defeat to Cleve Woods (2nd fight of career) Ross was never off his feet....Quite an achievment as he has fought some of the biggest hitters in recent memory - both Klits,Sanders,MOrrison,JL Gonzalez,Grant,Hipp,Rahman etc etc

Tua, 50 fights, fought pretty much everyone of his day and never knocked down or even hurt much. Just another string to the bow of one of the most high-achieving contenders ever.
The Rahman II flash-KD was just after the bell in my opinion.

IMO, Tua is at least as durable as Chuvalo.
Hard to argue with a contender that never even looked like being seriously hurt and fought and beat most of the top guys of his day, Chuvalo (and possibly Bugner) were the most durable guys of their day but weren't impregnable.

Its not like Tua was some fringe guy that had a great chin, he was a top 5 contender for several years and took everthing that came his way and mostly, returned it with interest.

Scar Tissue, I stand corrected by your newsclip of Sept 13,1935 reporting Ross was indeed dropped by a larger Ceferino Garcia. This was the first of three fights they had in which Barney won all three decisions.I once met a white haired Ross,by himself ,standing at a bar,in about 1947 0r thereabouts,at some social affair..Nervously I walked over to him and said"hello Barney",and shook his hand, and then foolishly walked away..I would have loved to ask this great fighter and war hero,so many questions, but I as a youngster was awed by one of my fathers fistic hero...

I've read conflicting reports on that. I've read that he was indeed dropped, but I've also read elsewhere that he was only staggered very badly.

Having said that, Jofre was reportedly down in at least one fight early in his career.

Pretty sure Barry Michael never went down in his 60 fights.

That man was such a tough ****. The asskicking he received against Lockridge was bad. He was pulled out of the fight with a broken eardrum and nose I believe.

Entire fight consisted of him laying on the ropes and being battered. :-(

I've always read that 40's/50's welter Billy Graham was never decked, until just recently in this forum, where it was said that he was decked in his last fight with Gavilan. I doubt this as The Hawk was hardly a bomber, despite all his strengths.

Chuvalo denies he was floored by Bonavena, though he would wouldn't he.

Interestingly, reports of the fight at the time make no mention of knockdowns or slips.

Chuvalo claims he slipped whilst moving backwards but says he never touched the canvas, there are no photos I have seen confirming it one way or the other.

There was a photo in Boxing Illustrated many years back showing him in a stooping position. B1 never mentioned knockdowns in their original report on the fight but years later, in a response to a reader enquiry, published this photo as 'proof'. It doesn't prove anything & I think BI were just being sensationalist.

I think if the Frazier ot Foreman fights had been allowed to continue he would have gone down though.
