his record (18-10), while not exactly pleasing to the eye, is actually very good. when you dig deeper into his resume, you'll discover that his losses were against top fighters who were bigger and younger than him. and not to mention the fluke loss against vitor belfort.
He may not be the greatest but he certainly is the most popular because has heart, personality, longevity, is humble and most importantly is really a light heavyweight who isn't afraid to challenge the bigger guys and most of the time he wins.
I think he does get overrated abit. For instance when he was considered to be on Fedor's level at his peak a few years back and top 5 P4P. But no doubt he is a great 205lber and heavyweight with his list of wins and titles there.
I agree he's a bit over rated - still a very complete fighter. Even though he's a UFC hall of famer I dont think he can be considered a top 10 either, too much other talent, Fedor, Silva, Machida, Nog, St Pierre, Penn these would all have to be top ten pound for pounders. I do genuinely think his personality and manner, although its not everything, does have something to do with why he has his status.
TS explain to us then how randy couture is not great! u see the losses on his record and assume people are over rating him because he loses from time to time! the man is pushing 50 his resume, career story and character are incredible! tool.
Off topic - did anyone see the chick couture was with at UFC 110 i suggest you do................she is not overrated.
I'm sure steroid/ped use has helped him out a great amount. He's no different than Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, who became stronger with age thanks to certain drugs. I would love to know the "natural" workout routine he used to expand the size of his head..............
He is a good fighter. Beat Tito at wrestling. Same with Randleman. Chuck didn't take him serious in the first fight. Belfort is a mental midget with no heart. The Smith fight was L/P. Tim was a good win but Tim had a bad back. All his wins were boring except the Chuck win.
