If both retired today who is ranked higher Riddick Bowe or Vitali K?

Bowe did beat Holy in 1992 when Holy was at the height of his reign as Champion, however, Holy was already age 30 and Bowe was a mere 25 yrs of age back in '92...... PLUS! Bowe was also 30 goddamn pounds heavier than Holy in 1992, as well....... Like it or not, these are factors and issues........

As for Vitali Klit, well, he's basically kicked all the ass in front of him since Dec. 2003....... He is also normally older than his opponents too........ At age 38, with chronic back and shoulder problems over the yrs, he has rebounded VERY WELL! The dude is great.......

Screw the hoopla and hub-bub......... History will indeed be more kinder to The "K" brothers rather than Bowe...... The "K" brothers are college boys and health nuts who apply smarts and conditioning into their fights........ They present a much better picture as pro athletes than a Riddick Bowe ever did........

You don't hear about the "K" brothers throwing ****-fits in public or going off on their spouse with a blade or gun, etc.....

Bowe's comeback to boxing since 2004 has been a sorry-ass scene to forget...... WTF? Bowe claimed he needed money cuz he blew his millions from the 1990s... Okay, so get in there and fight.... Bowe has fought about 4 or 5 times in the last "6" yrs..... WTF? He ain't making no money that way...... Christ, a poor dick off the street could've earned as much $$$ as Bowe has in his comeback flipping burgers for Burger King...... Bowe is a sorry mother.........

IMO, Vitali would beat Bowe strictly based on styles AND focus.

 

People make too much horse**** outta the 'Lewis' fight of 2003............. V.K. was kicking Lewis' 256 pound ass real good over six rounds of heated action........ Klit was halted on a cut / cuts....... V.K. didn't quit........... The fight doctor called it off...... V.K. was livid after the bout was stopped..... Lenny Lewis was happy it was stopped........ That was an empty win for Lewis........ He gets the "W" on his record, but V.K. won the crowd and night by overwhelming demand........ I had Klit ahead 4 to 2 over the course of 6 rds........... No way Lewis was ahead on points, and Lewis never really hurt Klit by any really wicked blows either.... In truth, V.K. prolly never even felt the cut open up when he was warm and had the blood pumping..... But I know damn well Klit had Lewis staggered and reeling on at least TWO good occasions........ 'Tis a great fight to review.........

I'm slightly biased, but Vitali. Bowe's trilogy with Holyfield is a big deal, a very big deal when it comes to legacy- but his **** poor title defences, getting beaten up twice by Golota and refusing to fight Lennox Lewis can hardly be ignored. Anyway, shouldn't longevity be taken into account? He was very good for a short space of time and then nothing.

If Vitali didn't come back to win the WBC belt off Peter then it might be a different story

While I sympathize to some degree with Vitali Klitschko, and feel that he is criticized a bit too harshly for the loss, I disagree big time that this was an "empty" win for Lewis. First of all, Vitali did not dominate that whole fight. By the time of the stoppage, it was very close to being even, and I'm not even sure who should have been ahead on the cards. Even if it was Vitali, the margin was thin. Secondly, it wasn't like the cut was caused by an intentional head but, or something of that nature. It was the result of a punch......That's what boxers are supposed to do, and sometimes cuts occur from getting hit.... That's boxing....Not horse ****.... Lastly, some concessions should be made for the fact that Lewis was pushing 38 years old and off for 12 months before that fight.. Let's not pretend that Klitschko was in the ring with the same Lewis who blasted Golata in one round years earlier......

 

Lewis used a far shorter right hand on Vitali than Bowe would have....or would have been able to. In fact, the Lewis that struggled with Lurch, IMO, is better than Bowe......and I like Bowe.

Bowe's wild arcing overhand right would be effectively blocked by Vitali's well-timed left arm, a move used to great effect against Chris Arreola. Lacking a short, straight right hand, AND, not being able to get in close to use what he lacks, Bowe would be picked apart, by both hands, while moving in, from the outside.

Not that it matters but all the scorecards had it 4-2 Vitali. That said, had Lewis, instead of Vitali won the first round, which was essentially a feeling out round it would have been scored a tie. Lewis won the 6th round on all the scorecards. That aside, it wasn't just one cut that Vitali had, he was cut in at least 3 places including his lip and was swallowing a lot of blood, in addition to the eye injury, which was about a bad a cut as I've ever seen. At the end, Lewis basically turned it into a brawl and was in the process of breaking down Vitali, who by the way, showed great toughness, to survive that uppercut in the 6th, which would have dropped many fighters. If there was such a thing as a good loss for a fighter that's what this was for Vitali. And as for Lewis he often doesn't get the credit he deserves for winning a tough, tough fight.

Here’s what you need to know. For openers, I was a Bowe fan. Donald wasn’t 40 when he meet Vitalim he was 35. 35 today not that old.
The thing to focus on was Donald he was at his ideal prime weight of 225 pounds. Don King who promoted Donald had a keen interest in this match as he saw the Klitshcko’s as rivals to take belts.

Anyway, Donald won perhaps one round, and was beaten down and knocked out. This is Donald’s. lone stoppage loss. Donald was far from done. He breezed though Holyfield in 2004, then out pointed a prime Valuev on a fair card, but was robbed. By chance did you see Vitali vs Donald or Donald vs Valuev? I think Donald’s performance vs. Valuev was better than Ruiz’s or Hayes for sure.

At any rate there is a huge difference between the Hide and Donald fights with Vitali and Bowe.
