I dont get these picks where one guy is picked to tko the other guy....

Are people really thinking Pac would NOT last 12 with Chavez? Todays Pacs defence is so so so underrated.... its absurd. He bounces VERY effectively out of range after unleashing his volleys.... and actually has some decent ring generalship to speak of. Now add in Pacs chin, and toughness..... i see this fight going 12 rounds regardless.

Not quite sure why people are bringing up fights from 4 years ago to pick apart for Pac.... hes improved steadily over the years and has shown mobility, defence, and counterpunching to a whole new level (IMO)

And as for Pac stopping Chavez, with Chavez's ability to absorb punishment in his prime, and subtley yet effectivelly pick shots off and take a lot of the shock of power punches, along with his toughness i dont quite understand the pac tko pick eather.

I dont know who wins this fight.... i think Pac has a very good shot if he stays on his toes and keeps moving, hes very hard to time with his bouncy no rythem style and has fast feet when he wants.... but i see it turning into an eventual slugfest, and i think chavez has the ability to be more effective once he plants himself in pacs chest and starts mauling pacs head and body....

i could def see this fight going eather way....

Good post at 140 i agree although i picked Chavez i could see it going either way at JW.

I agree that Pac has improved as he has moved up, seems like he has also gotten tougher seen him hurt a few times in the lighter weights i never see him hurt anymore.. Thats why i can see Chavez possilby stopping him late at the lighter weights but probably not at 140. Chavez was definetly a 15 round fighter if it was 15 i can see him Possibly stopping Manny.

Good post. I dont think I'm underrating Chavez at all, I often said Chavez was very skilled because it is much harder to come forward, dodge punches and make your opponent pay than it is to go back, wait for a shot and counterpunch.

I disagree with Taylor being forced to stay in range. To a degree sure Chavez forced his way in, but IMO like Cotto-Margo, much more so with Taylor-Chavez, Taylor definitely could have done more to get out of the way of punches. Chavez built up his confidence really, he was landing 2-1, why should he change his tactics? In fact, the same exact tactic had him well on his way to winning, a matter of few seconds.

I also think you are underrating Pac's boxing skills. Pac has never had trouble fighting come forward fighters, its fighters who go back. Pac has such fast feet, great lateral movement that I just think if he wanted to, he can really run around the ring. Also Chavez may have an iron chin, but Pac's speed, power, akward angled punches in bunches IMO would get Chavez attention, I doubt he would just pull a Margo(on Cotto) on Pac.

just think of chavez vs whitaker
only I dont think whitaker could put more punishment to his opponent than pacman

I think chavez of the 80's would prevail against pacman in close but still unamious decision

I hate these threads. People make out that the modern fighter in this case Pacquaio is a no hoper or some type of novice or something, its bull****. Chavez would absolutely destroy Pac my **** he would. It would be a great fight no doubt but to say Pac would get destroyed is ridiculous.

There are quite a few people saying Pac beats Chavez in this thread. Some even suggest "WIDE UD" or Pac finishing Chavez which is insane.

I hate when we only look at one side engaging in hyperbole and not the other.

It would be an insanely brilliant fight. At 130, 135 or 140, I'd back Chavez to win. Above 140, I'd back Pacquiao to win.

Actually I think they were just ignoring a post as idiotic as one which states that Morales was shot the night he pulled off the best win of his career! :patsch

It's funny how people say above 140 Pac.

    Above 140 Pac has fought:

A shot and weight drained Oscar De La Hoya.
An exposed Ricky Hatton. (Nearly KO twice, once by feather fisted B level fighter Collazo, and another by past prime B level Lazacno, and brutally KO by Mayweather)
    A ruined Cotto.
