First off, I'm quite new to the sport (trying to watch as much as I can as quickly as I can). So, forgive me if some of these questions come across as ignorant.

    - Is it time for Big Nog to retire? Thats two pretty recent devastating losses sandwiched around a victory over a guy who is pretty shopworn himself (Couture).

    - I was very impressed with George Sotiropoulos. What a killer ground game that guy has, and his stand-up seems to have improved dramatically from what I saw of him in earlier times. Do you think he could make some noise in the division? Who would you match him with next?

    - How do you like Cain's chances for the big prize now? Does he go in with the winner of Carwin-Mir next? Would a match-up with Junior Dos Santos be a good one or should that one be left to simmer for a while?

    - Where does Bisping go from here? Does he disappear into obscurity or can he still be a factor in the division? Does he need to make some major renovations in his game? Of course it was tight decision with Silva, so maybe no need to over-react just yet.

    Answer what you can.

    Cheers in advance:good

Yep Big Nog need to retire, and Couture too.

Sotiropoulos has a great ground game. He can make noise in that division, make him fight Nate Diaz! that fight would be greaaat

Cain would beat Carwin, but would get crushed by Lesnar...
    JDS would TKO him though.

Bisping is a good fighter, not a can, not a serious contender, but a good fighter. Only Hendo can say he really crushed him.

    That's my opinion!

I would like Big Nog to retire but I'm not sure he'll want to yet.

The winner of the Carwin-Mir fight is supposed to be fighting Lesnar, unless they get an injury in the fight, but I would rather see Cain fight Lesnar. I don't want to see Lesnar-Mir 3 just yet, Lesnar would have had 6 fights, 3 against the same guy. Plus it's the UFC's biggest fight at heavy so giving them both a fight or two to hype it up would be great. I am assuming that Mir will beat Carwin but I can't see it another way.

    - Is it time for Big Nog to retire? Thats two pretty recent devastating losses sandwiched around a victory over a guy who is pretty shopworn himself (Couture).

Its about time for him to retire. Id like maybe 1-2 more fights top probablly a legends fight like a rematch with Mirko Cro Cop.

    - I was very impressed with George Sotiropoulos. What a killer ground game that guy has, and his stand-up seems to have improved dramatically from what I saw of him in earlier times. Do you think he could make some noise in the division? Who would you match him with next?

Yes he can make noise his Jiujitsu is probablly 2nd best in the divison behind BJ Penn and he has wrestling skills to actually get fights where he needs it. Id like him to be matched with the winner of Takanori Gomi-Kenny Florian.

    - How do you like Cain's chances for the big prize now? Does he go in with the winner of Carwin-Mir next? Would a match-up with Junior Dos Santos be a good one or should that one be left to simmer for a while?

Cain should be matched with the Junior Dos Santos-Gabriel Gonzaga fight on the July card which is supposed to feature Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir/Shane Carwin winner.

    - Where does Bisping go from here? Does he disappear into obscurity or can he still be a factor in the division? Does he need to make some major renovations in his game? Of course it was tight decision with Silva, so maybe no need to over-react just yet.

Bispings game has improved hes developed some good techniqual offensive wrestling skills and if he settles down and sits more on his shots he becomes a more dangerous striker. A great fight would be him vs Alan Belcher.

    Cheers for the feedback lads.

BTW Jimmie, watched those Serra blogs. They were hilarious, a great watch. Cheers for the tip-off.

Bisping is going to be stuck with eeking out close decisions over mediocre opponents or getting KO'd by top contenders.

-Yes Nog needs to retire now. Probably should have a fight or two ago.

-I was very impressed with Sotiropoulos. He man handled Stevenson for most of that fight. Great BJJ and solid stand up. He will make some noise in this division and I can see him mixing it up well with some of the other well established lightweights out there. I'd put him in with Diaz or Griffin next maybe. Any top lightweight really.

-Well I doubt Cain beats Lesnar. Cain should probably fight the winner of Dos Santos/Gonzaga seeing as the winner of Carwin/Mir should be fighting Lesnar.

-Like Jimmie said, he needs to sit down on his shots. Without a way to finish fights he will find himself struggling against the top guys I think, especially as he has to fight on his bike a lot.

    My thoughts?

Why is Joe Stevenson still fighting in the UFC?

    Also Bonnar and Jardine?

I was at the event - It was a rippa.

The call for Nog to retire is fair - BUT - he plain got caught. They were both throwing right hands and he simply got caught - He had already lost pretty much every exchange with Velasquez to that point and should have thought about taking it to the ground - He didn't.

To me - Jardine is more pressing in the retiring stages - That's two KO's in a row, third loss...time is running out.

Bisping was never going to be an elite fighter but he will always look decent in the sport and pick up good wins. Apart from the end of the two rounds he dropped I thought he had an argument to win both.

Stevenson is a quality fighter.. I think that Satiropoulos is just very, very freaking good. Plenty of fighters around Stevenson can beat, so why not keep the guy around?

Also, Stevenson looks small against everyone. It almost seems like he should fight at a lighter division, too bad there isn't one in the UFC.

Not sure if Nog needs to retire or not, maybe just not a top guy anymore. I would still love to see him fight CC again.

Well, Stevenson had won his last two fights, and one was a pretty convincing win against Nate Diaz. I don't think this one loss should get him booted from the UFC.

And yeah prior to that he lost a couple of times. One to Diego who will never be a champ at LW. What does that make Joe? Hes not an incredibly exciting fighter ala Griffin or Stout.

The UFC just need to stop rehashing guys and put some new blood, even WEC guys. People arent stupid and this is Danas business model, the majority of our fans are stupid and we will treat them as such until they stop buying.
