Morales wasn't shot but he wasn't anywhere close to being at his best either. Not even Enzo would suggest otherwise.
i know his longest reign was at 140 but i think pac would have beaten him at this weight but would be a closer fight at any lower weight
^ Honestly, i think a fight between the 2 would be at its closest at 140. Chavez definetly beats him at the lower weights.
I have a friend who used to hang with Chavez before the Rosario fight and he told me stuff that I could not believe. When I was backstage some of what he said was confirmed. I have run into Oscar about 7 times in my life each time he was polite.
"Morales is great fighter, he beat me first time." .....some people will admit to that being givng credit to Morales.......the problem with it is that he then in subsequent interviews he'll have a sock full of excuses on why he lost the Morales fight....... ....just recently, inexplicably putting the "they drew blood from me the day of the Morales fight. Thats why I lost that fight."atsch Which is it Manny.....was it the gloves, the cut, the blood being drawn the day of the fight.....which is it??? .....because it most certainly could'nt have been that he was beaten by the better fighter on the night.
Hamed might have said that at some point, but like 99.9% of fighters who get beat, he had a list of them as well.......just a few of them being, he was preocupied more with selling himself to the public than spending the time in the gym......problems in camp with having two trainers for that fight, I forget his first name but I believe it was Jose Juarez and also in camp was Emmaneul Steward (who typical of Steward tossed himself aside as being part of the camp when Hamed got his ass handed to him). ......and then you typical excuses like I just was'nt hungry for it....... Fighters are always excusing themselves, and just about everyone of them would like to believe that they would have won had everything in camp gone perfectly (which it never does)..... ......but it is nice to know that Hamed did give credit to MAB, and holds him in high esteem to this very day.
When did you meet Chavez, at what point in his career or was it after his career???? Chavez during his prime years was known to hang around and mingle with the real fans at the gym. Chavez loved his fans......... Late in his career and afterward, he became an alcoholic and a pain in the ass to anyone that was around him.
First off, when you diffuse a shot by parrying it, and use the movement you use to parry that shot to roll and shoot a shot of your own......thats a counterpunch. Now as far as comparing Chavez to MAB???? I'll use "Big" George Foreman's statement when Jim Lampley tried to make that parralel on the air when Foreman was analyzing...... "Blasphemy!" dangerousity, you need to educate yourself. Please bring out a youtube clip of MAB using his right hand consistently and to great effect against any credible caliber opponent. Let me give you a hardcore dose of what Chavez could do, and consistently did throughout his career with that right hand of his........this man did'nt just have the left hook to the gut though you will see it in perfect display here as well....... For you clowns doubting Chavez' abilty with the fight hand......it was laser guided, check it out.......this is only a one round clip, but thats all that anyone needs to see to convince themselves of Chavez' capacity with both the right and the left..... I was backstage for the press conference for De La Hoya vs Chavez I at Olympic Auditorium. I was there invited as a VIP because my father and his partners had the rights to the event on closed circuit at Olympic Auditorium, Cal State Fullerton Stadium, and The Orange Showroom. The partnership consisted of Leonardo owner of Leonardo's Night Clubs, A Mi Hacienda, Taqueria De Anda, and a few other smaller businesses. I would say your sources are wrong. No disrespect but they are dead wrong. Alcoholism is the least of his issues. The people around Chavez are grade A jerks. As a fighter I respect him but he by no means is a people person or a role model.
Agreed. Comparing Chavez to Barrera is ******ed, I can produce a 4 minute highlight reel of Julio devastating opponents with his right hand lead. It knocked guys out, and although Barrera had a much better right hand than Divac could care to admit, it wasn't on the same planet as Chavez's. If you need a good right hand to beat Pacquiao then Julio certainly had it, in addition to everything else the man had at his disposal.
