right I've made a simple little site on Ken, and what I would like from ye is to check it out and tell me any thing that is ****/wrong and needs changing www.ken-buchanan.com and I mean anything at all, from historical facts down to spelling mistakes and through to the page just looks plain ****..... and yes, I know there is no tartan design anywhere, I am working on fixing that anyway, please have a look and tell me where I have gone wrong cheers dudes p.s you may recognise the colour design
On the biography it says 'Ken Buchanan was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, twice. Just thought i'd let you know. Great work though
cheers mate its now changed and i know there will be plenty of things like that, so don't be afraid to point them out in fact looking at it on site, i can see lots of grammar errors, so will be changing them now too
Only saw him fight live once ,in1981 against Lance Williams in a down the bill fight ,he was fighting for a few £100, he started well even dropping the youngster, but ran out of stamina. A great fighter, who, because of boxing politics fought most of his big fights abroad ,or, in members clubs ,so he never received the exposure and recognition he so richly deserved . Fighting Donato Paduano a good welter he totally outclassed and bemused him in MSG,the US scribes enthused about Ken, comparing him to their best, but he got little mileage in the English press. Only now,on sites such as this are his qualities and talent being so belatedly recognized. Its nice to think he gets some acclaim in the autumn of his years, but it would have been of more practical help when he was in his prime.
cheers guys the site is pretty plain, and there are a few aesthetic things that i will change over the next few days/weeks but the crux of it is the fights, a place you can go and enjoy his incredible ability and surely it will get to the first page of google searches; the things there now are just links to newspaper articles also, if anyone has anymore fights, please send them my way i'd also love Ken himself to see it......
Mixed emotions seeing Buchanan's name. A friend of mine, Chu Chu Malave, was on the cusp of becoming a serious contender, but got starched by Ken in the Felt Forum in N.Y. But have to admire Ken's grit, poise 'n text-book boxing against a peak rampaging Duran. Was ringside for that fight. If Roberto hit him any lower, he'd 've fractured his knee. Surprised Ken isn't a soprano.
another wonderful story :good no man could of stopped Duran that night, ashame for Ken's sake that he did not lose in a fair way, it ate his soul the way he lost, so much so he could not even accept the fact he was clearly losing the fight anyway. and i think poise is a wonderfully perfect word to describe Ken's style; he just had beautiful poise in the ring
