That about sums it up for me... Tubbs had the boxing ability to take this one, but he couldn't afford to show up in the fashion that he did against Tim Witherspoon.
Oddly, even though Tubbs was tubby at 244 for Spoon in 1986, Tubbs still would've beaten at least half of the top-10 contenders on the night he lost his WBA title on a close decision to Spoon..... Again, I have the tape on hand, Tubbs was there to the end.... :deal Tim Spoon himself was a career heavy 227 pounds the night he beat Tubbs in Georgia in 1986.... "Holmes & Spinks" were ringside.... However, Spoon just kept getting heavier and heavier come his fights with "Bruno & Smith." Spoon too, became a slob....... shock: MR.BILL
