Ok just read on the scene that Mayorga is fighting Din Thomas....I mean this seems like a pretty tuff test is Mayorga being setup up for an extreme lesson or does he actually have any MMA experiance. Cause it seems he's goin into the deep end fighting someone as good as Din Thomas...im not one who knows to much about MMA (im not an MMA basher incase people think this is what this is about....im a boxing fan who respects the art of other forms of fighting....i actually do appreciate the skill needed to fight in mma) but looking at Din's record he's mixed it up with some top names and he's coming of a 3 match winning streak. Unlike MAyorga who lost his last fight and that was WAY back in 2008!!!! Din's last fight was this year and has been fighting consecutively....Somethin tells me Mayorga's gonna take a severe beating!!!! :blood

IF he wins i think he should offically be named as the BADDASSS MAN ON THE PLANET!!!! someone should even make him a belt :smoke

Well it's his MMA debut...so it depends on what you mean by experience. In-ring/cage experience? No, he has none...it's his debut.

As far as whether he's gotten some good sparring rounds in with quality MMA fighters during his education/training...that's a good question. I haven't been following his camp too closely since they announced his inclusion in Shine against Thomas...very much looking forward to seeing how he does though. :good

According to an interview back in September, he was just starting his crosstraining camp at the time, learning BJJ and Muay Thai etc.

So by fight night that will be just over 5 months. It had better be good training!

    Actually, scratch that.

Shine 3 was supposed to be on March 6th, but is now apparently on May 15 (so he'll have had almost 8 months of training).

Mayorga vs. Din is the headliner; Ninja Rua, Jeff Monson, and Nick Thompson are also appearing.

His punch resistance has gone down and at this point I don't know if he'll do good in MMA. **** I better him do MMA than Toney.

As long as Mayorga picked up some kind of takedon defense - he can use his unorthodox punching to be very effective in the ring. I don't think he'll have trained submissions enough to be able to so much as survive if he is taken to the ground - but if he can keep the fight on the feet - then he could be extremely dangerous. He was always a brutal puncher in boxing. This power should translate nicely to MMA.

However - Din Thomas should take him down in a matter of seconds and will more than likely wind up breaking Mayorga's arm with an armlock because Ricardo will probably never tap to a submission. I just hope this won't mean the end of Mayorga's boxing career because he can still be a force in the ring at junior middleweight.

His punch resistance has gone down, but he took 30 rounds of shots from very good punchers Oscar, Shane, and Fernando (he got stopped by the former two only after taking a lot of punishment). Vargas was fat and shot, but power's the last thing to go. Ricardo got hit on the button and kept giving right on back better than he got.

Thomas has all of 7 stoppages in MMA, against pretty low-class opposition in weight classes comparable to boxing's 147 and 154 lb divisions.

Mayorga is not the one in danger of being knocked out here. Submitted or outpointed - sure, those are realistic dangers. Thomas is the only one who needs to worry about keeping his chin tucked here.
