Go to 6:48 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfCbiUtlJ8Y[/ame] and do you think that this plays a major part in why American fighters feel no need to go and compete in Europe were there is great competition ? I personally think Dirrell clearly won the fight, but that just my opinion and not what I'm trying to make the thread about.
Yup. Derrell was robbed that night. Crotch as Tarver put it has got to be one of the most ridiculous fighters I've ever seen in my life. I don't how the hell his primitive caveman skills landed him the Super Six tournament.
He wasn't robbed. It was a close fight, personally I did give Dirrell the fight by 1 or 2 points, but there are only about 4 really clear rounds. 2 for Froch (I think in the 6th or 7th and 12th is somewhat clear for Froch) and Dirrell starts picking it up in rounds 9, 10, and 11. The other rounds are swing rounds that could have gone either way. It's not a robbery if it's a close fight and there are about 6 or 7 swing rounds. Anyway, BOT, I do think to an extent that is a reason why. I also, think there (speaking form an American fighter standpoint) that there is no point in going over seas, because they are already fighting in America.
You can't win a fight by running, holding, falling down on canvas and complaining to referee, unless you can buy the judges.
Although I thought he should have won the fight, its his tactics he should blame. I do think their was some hometown to be factored into the decision as well, but he clearly could have won the fight despite that. He basically fought scared and suffered the consequences. Its an unfortunate thing in boxing that the hometown fighters often get a little extra consideration, but it goes for all venues. Some, worse than others. When you got into another fighter's backyard, you should be prepared to bring a little more to the ring than if you were at home, where you would have the advantages.
I had Dirrell up by 1 point, but if I had been a judge that night I would have handed over my score with tears in my eyes! Dirrell may have edged him, but he did stink out the place doing it. He was scared, spoiling, complaining, running and the only reason I want to see Dirrell against Abraham is for AA to give that sorry excuse for a boxer a beating he never forgets! It's the first time that I scored in favour of one boxer, and was delighted the other got the decision!
When a fighter puts a knee to the ground its a knockdown. The ref should have counted Dirrel when he was falling down period.
