Exactly !!! So Froch got the benefit of the doubt , I had Direll winning too but it was an enormously negative performance and we are STILL hearing about it. Seriously, some of my american cousins on here sure as **** like a ****ing cry ! If the fight had been reversed ( i.e in the US, Froch landing more but going backwards the whole fight , holding all the time etc ) would the outcry have been the same heeeeeeeellllllll no . get ****ing over it !!!!!!
ah well, Kessler got also a nice 'home' treatment in Oakland... that's nothing new, prepare for it if you're travelling abroad, USA, UK, or Germany.
I've said this phrase before in another thread today, but it fits here, too: It comes with the territory. Hometown fighters routinely get the benefit of the doubt; it's not fair, but it's up to the visiting fighter to know what he's up against and if they don't give 110% to try and get the W, then they've already failed tactically. Dirrell fought like he was the hometown fighter, not Froch. The same way Kessler never adjusted against Ward's rough housing. If you're on the team of these fighters and they're not prepared for that happening and are unaware of the environment they're fighting in, what the hell ARE you preparing them for?
My trainer always told me, "Were on the road, so win by putting him on the mat." He always let us know that we had to get at least a KD if we were fighting on the road.
I thoroughly understand the hometown advantage fighters have, I also didn't like the holding, or complaining Dirrell was doing. With that said he was complaining because Froch repeated him him behind the head and was doing everything in his power to rough him up while clinching because he was frustrated he couldn't hit him cleanly. If you were scoring the fight and wanted to take points away from Dirrell for his lack of ring generalship fine, but you would have had to have been not watching or extremely biased to think he wasn't landing nearly all of the effective an clean punches as well as consistantly making Froch miss even when standing directly in front of him. I had Dirrell up by a few rounds and didn't think it was even a competitive fight. Froch lacked the ability to effectively cut off the ring or handle dirrells speed and he was consistantly countered. Dirrell was also able to hurt Froch while most of Froch's punches were grazing or landing on the back of dirrells head. It was an embarassing decision on the judges part in my opinion. With that said there have been many robberies in the states, but American fighters don't always have the full backing of America when facing a fighter from overseas. Ward fought in his hometown and in his hometown he will be thoroughly backed, but if that fight took place in vegas I don't think the crowd would have been as one sided. No matter where an American fighter fights overseas the entire crowd will be anti-american. That isn't the same in the states.
Yes he's right on the money,if we are going to accept these unwritten rules like "you have to really take the title from the champ" and "hometown decisions come with the territory",then what's the point??Exactly how much of a head start are we giving the champion and more to the point, why the **** does the champion, who should be one of the best in his division, need so many advantages going into a fight??This notion that you have to either ko or at the least kd your opponent when fighting on the road is also bs.If a fighter is outclassed he should lose, champ or not.
First of all, froch didnt slam dirrell, the cnut dirrel was play acting and broke so many rules of boxing in that fight. Dirrell could have made a valid point but you only need to look at the ward vs kessler fight, european boxers can turn around and say thats why we dont want to fight in america. ward should have been DQd 3-4 times over in that fight
true but ill tell you what the blowbra is the worst fighter i have ever seen so what does that say for dir. Abraham is gona kill that boy
