I am so sick and tired of reading all of the unwarranted hatred on here about this man! Everyone I talk to, here and everywhere else, all I hear about is how overrated this guy is. All I hear about is how he strategically orchestrated a low risk, high reward career. How he fought Peter Manfredo and Sakio Bika at the time he should have been challenging and using all his status to score fights with the best in the world. I hear how he waited to Hopkins was over 40 years old and Jones was a mere shadow, shell of his old self and then claimed that he had proved all he had to prove after he beat these two old men.

I really am tired of hearing all this ****! He is a boxer, and boxing is a business! He has to maximize his returns, of course if your promoter offers you Joe the Taxi driver for equal or more money in your backyard, instead of Prime Roy Jones in America, you and anyone else is going to fight the taxi driver. It's a NO BRAINER! Yet he gets bashed and hated on for doing, what any logically thinking, limited talent holding fighter would do :patsch For real, we should be praising Calzaghe not bashing him, he lived the american dream without ever being from America. He achieved superstardom without ever even having to challenge himself, that is amazing and impressive!

You're absolutely right. Jones got whooped that nite. 40 year old, risen and fallen, already been spectacularly KO'd, overrated, civil servant fighting Jones got his arse beat that night by JC. But it is among your guys best wins. What does that tell you?

From Calzaghe's own mouth, beating Jones was the LAST thing he wanted to prove. And he did. This guy really did go out on top of the mountain. It's rare in this sport, somebody can retire after beating the crap out of a legend like that. It would be like Berbick retiring after he beat Ali.

LOL at you. Listen son, whatever you say, the fact is hopkins and jones were offered calzaghe fights in 99, 2000 and 02 but they turned them down, why? because they wanted too much money

you are just jealous a over the hill calzaghe beat the sht out of them both

no wonder why they didnt want a piece of joe in his prime, he would have humiliated those two over hyped jokes

Did they reveal the contracts to the media? no so how the **** would anyone know

what we DO know is in 2002, hopkins and calzaghe was very very close to being made, everything had been agreed. In the end hopkins pulled out demanding more money. I don't blame hopkins, why would he take a **** pay day against a boxer who would definitely win like calzaghe? it made no ****ing sense
