Dude, he is making fun of you for your strong hate of Roy Jones, and you don't even see it.... And you have the gull to talk about other peoples agendas? I don't disrespect any fighter, doesn't matter if I like them or dislike them, I show respect for what they have done. Notice I have not once tried to insult Calzaghe and his fans, even though you and your Chinchecker buddies toss every insult you can to my favorite fighter? The above poster you quoted has not said anything different than I have. Why am I even explaining myself to you?atsch
listen mind reader, i'm well aware of what lastletter was doing, i just thought it was a knowledgable post he made about both fighters. i didn't think there was any agenda to it, where as my posts and your posts do. maybe your posts on jones wouldn't have an agenda if they weren't in response to my posts. btw, what is a chinchecker and who are they?
It's hilarious that you and his other fans brag about him beating the hell out of Lacy. It is like Floyd fans going around bragging about him beating Gatti, only Gatti was better then Lacy.
correct, HBO brainwashed a whole country into thinking lacy would destroy calzaghe. in fact, something like 24 out of 26 boxing writers at the fight tipped lacy to win.
I can't believe this, I try and do a good thing and show support for a good fighter and it has turned into people bashing him and others sucking his balls. Pathetic. atsch
Although Joe may not have the best resume he without a doubt was supremely skilled. I think the best thing about him was his ring IQ. Calzaghe was one of the smartest fighters in the game and could adjust on the fly. He made great adjustments against another ring genius in Hopkins. I miss seeing Joe in the ring and wish he was still active today. I loved they way he would taunt and clown guys like RJJ and Lacy. Calazaghe is a true ATG and would have been great in era.:deal
So how was Jones Lacy'd by Calzaghe then? Surely you don't think HBO blinded a whole county into thinking Jones was gonna destroy Calzaghe? Maybe because everyone already knew Jones was done? Just like Joe himself.:deal As a matter of fact, I can't think of one person with a brain that would compare his fight with Lacy to his fight with Jones.
Joe Calzaghe is a legend. You won't read this poster typing anything bad about Joe. Calzaghe is one of those fighters that some will overrate because of his undefeated record and some will underrate because the biggest names that he fought were past their best. Well, Hopkins was barely past his best, but Jones was indeed past his best. Calzaghe has a solid resume though. It's no easy task beating Hopkins at any age. Sakio Bika, Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler, Byron Mitchell, Charles Brewer, Omar Sheika (with only one loss at the time), Mario Veit and even an over-the-hill Chris Eubank are all good opponents. I know this isn't saying much, but Joe Calzaghe is the grestest super middleweight champion of all time. Not an old division, granted. When I say he was the greatest champion in that weight, I'm not saying that he could have beaten Roy Jones at that weight, in his prime, I'm also not saying that he couldn't have neither. We didn;t get to see it. But he had the best resume of any super middleweight champion. Head-to-head, a prime Jones is the only guy that I see beating Joe, since the super middleweight division has been around.
Good Post:good Roy Jones is my favorite fighter, but you will never catch me trying to disrespect Calzaghe. The man was a great fighter, no matter what.
jones was lacy-ied because he got a one sided beat down. many people tipped jones to win. i do agree that those that did didn't possess a brain.
I knew Jones was not gonna win that fight. It was a no brainer. Calzaghe and Jones wanted to cash out, I believe they earned the right. But to suggest that fight had anything to do with legacy is ridiculous. I sure did hope Roy was gonna win, but didn't see it happening.
