You refer to Mir's victory over Lesnar hail mary?

A BJJ blackbelt that through a kneebar attempt with excellent technique, and simply out smarted his opponent, "hail mary?"

    Just stop:patsch

You clearly do not understand physics. Mir's normal fighting weight ranges from to 249 & up. Mir concentrating on speed and being lighter ****ed him over once they locked up with Lesnar with that 245 lb frame. He was to light. It DOES matter how much mass he has. Let's compare to Boxing, Bernard Hopkins put on ALOT of mass to fight Antonio Tarver. He prepared his body to fight a bigger opponent. It's the same thing. Only being that Mir's game plan was based on speed and elusiveness in his rematch. He wants one more shot, and just like him, I think it's gonna be a different story. Mir has never been this upset and crazed, and quite frankly, I like it.

And since you call Mir's opponents tomato cans, "ala Nog" as you say, I wouldn't exactly call beating Hearring (shot) and Couture (100 yrs old and shot), an impressive resume either.

It does matter, generally speaking, but not against Lesnar. Lesnar is a natural 300 pounder who cuts (barely to 265). No matter how much Mir is or isn't packing doesn't matter; if Lesnar wants to take him to the ground and gets a lock on him, Mir is going down. At the higher weight in the first fight, Mir still ended up on his back when Lesnar wanted him there. Being lighter only made it easier for Lesnar, as it regards physics.

You're not understanding me, let me rephrase. Yes Lesnar will take Mir down. I wasn't saying he won't. But what I'm talking about is Mir's body being prepared to fight a man like that. To have his body in better preperation to absorb what Lesnar will dish out.

    Examples:

    First fight.

Mir 255. Handled himself much better underneath Lesnar.

    Second fight:

Mir 245: Got completely man handled as soon they locked up.

So as you see, I'm not saying Mir's extra mass will prevent him from being taken down. I'm saying that extra mass and will be more of a help, especially considering the strength that comes along with it. He was basically a twig in that Lesnar rematch.

You chalk it up to weight, I chalk it up to Lesnar being better versed on what to do on the ground with Mir. In the first fight, he went classic ground and pound. Second, he arm crucifixes him in the first round; and basically did the same in the second. Mir couldn't get out, not because he was lighter, but because Brock hooked him - an extra ten pounds wouldn't have helped him. He lost because Lesnar improved his ground game from the first to second fight.

That's my take of it, anyways.

You don't think that the extra experience Lesnar gained and a better game plan and all round fighting abilites improvement had something to do with it.

Mir is a snatch a sub type of BJJ guy. Sure he could beat Lesnar, but I doubt he will be able to set anything up because thats not his game and Lesnar being the level of wrestler he is can neutrilse set ups to an extent. So because thats not Mirs game to set things up, I don't think Lesnar will give him the change to snatch something. Just because there wont be an opening to.

It was handed to him by a completely green fighter.

He was lucky Brock didn't have any experience..

Mir won 10 seconds of their 2 fights. Thats the facts.

Here is another fact. Frank Mir is an big mouthed idiot.

After their first fight he was talking about how Brock hit harder than anyone.. and how he was seeing white flashes after he got hit. Then a few months later hes talking about how Brock hit like his little sister.

It was actually a little of both. Mir being so light, on the top of the fact that Lesnar better prepared himself. I'm not as much of a Lesnar hater as I was before. I actually have a new found appreciation for the guy. I'm glad he's recovered, and is healthy again. However Mir is my favorite fighter, so Lesnar MUST go down and he must be broken. I'm not saying what happened last time can't happen again, it's certaintly possible. But I wanna see what a 3rd fight would look like with Mir having a much better outlook on what to do. Rubber match, and the event should be called UFC 1?? "NO Excuses"

Mir's efficiency is excellent. Amongst the best in the game. The guy doesn't need much to take advantage. If you know his history, one silly little slight mistake made against him can be costly. Lesnar was no different. That kneebar being handed to him MY ASS. If they fight again, Lesnar can probably win 4 mins and 50 seconds of the first round. But there's that possibility if Lesnar leaves something hanging around, it will be snatched and he will be subbed. So Lesnar winning the majority of the round would go to ****. Lesnar has to break an opponent down for a victory. Fact is Mir can finish a fight instantly, and that's a fact too.

Secondly, Mir was talking the **** he was talking because Lesnar took upon himself after he beat Hearring to go saying how he gave that kneebar to him and started popping off with the mouth. He found an excuse, Nog did this very same thing.

And here's another fact, Brock Lesnar is a descent fighter but has a shitty attitude with a ***** tattooed on his chest.

mir just underestimated brock the second time. he didnt see the new dimensions lesnar had added to his ground game.
he wont make that mistake again.
ive always said the first fighter to hang with brock past 3 rounds will brutally ko him and the way mirs hands have been flying lately i wouldnt be surprised at all if hes the one to do it.

Im not even close to convinced Lesnar is a better fighter then Mir regardless of the July whooping. Lesnar being bigger does make a difference as Dynamite mentioned Brock cuts down to 265 from what ive always heard he comes down from about 280 so going agianst a guy who weighs 245 when your almost always on top him like Brock was in the rematch is going to be a good postion for you. Mir put on the muscle the correct way, he didnt sacrafice any speed or mobility. Not saying he doesnt get crushed agian if Brock is on top but I think he gives himself a better chance and that IMO isnt even debatable. Go train alittle Jiujitsu and see how it feels regardless of it being a netural postion like halfguard or not when a guy who outweighs you by atleast 30-40 pounds is chest on chest to you. Its a bit uncomfertable, hard to breathe and very hard to move your hips around. The 3 most important things in BJJ are base, space and hips well Frank couldnt get the space he needed or move his hips like he wanted and size had something to do with it.

Brock to his credit fought brilliantly. In the 2nd round watch when Brock refuses to go the ground then Frank stands back up buzzes him with 2 knees, and an elbow but when Frank makes the mistake of leaping for another knee Brock understands that now Frank is up agianst the cage and right away follows him, uses the fence and pounds his head in. Frank Mir was beyond confident going in he was downright cocky and thought he could try some Urijah Faber moves in there.

Standing up from what ive seen in the brief standup in the rematch and what Frank showed vs Kongo and Nogueira and the fact that Brock has been so sick he couldnt train I think Frank holds a nice striking advantage. On the ground I still favor Mir unless hes in the postion being pushed agianst the cage like he was he got stopped. Mir has such a dynamic guard and the guy was a legitmate Blackbelt when Brock was still in the WWE, Frank knows what to do in the middle of the octagon he proved that once already.
