I once saw a video on Youtube which was pretty good, where Benn was getting interviewed after the fight in the changing rooms or somewhere and the video also showed you an interview with Gerald McClellan's trainer outside the hospital. Does anyone know which video I am on about?, because I can't find it.
I used have a great video cassette off Ebay that someone had put together that had the fight, and news clips, interviews, current affairs programs from the weeks after the fight. It was a great snapshot of what went on and how people were thinking straight after the bout. It was the sort of thing that would be a piece of **** to make now with DVD making software but back then it would have been a PITA to put together. I seem to remember the surgeon, John Sutcliffe (?) that operated on McClellan came across very well and refused to condemn boxing even though thats the direction the interviewers were trying to lead him.
totally, i sent money at the time to his fund, the *****, wish i never now, i do not have one tiny bit of sympathy for him, go **** yourself g-man
Listen, McClellan's life outside of the ring before the Benn fight is another matter for another thread. This one is for discussing the fight itself :deal
Let's be honest who knows the truth about Mclellon, they wanted to build him up to be a monster for all we know those stories could be completely fabricated by the man himself to build up a menacing persona. Take everything with a pinch of salt in boxing.
I'm pretty sure I read that the only boxers who have actually been to his home to see him are Joe Frazier and Bernard Hopkins.
I heard kevin Leushing trousered more from the dinner at the Grosvenor than McClellan. If so, that really is sick.
I thought Benn has? I read the War, Baby book on a drunken flight to Vegas (Calzaghe Hopkins) so will have to read it again.
I think the only time Nigel has seen McClellan since the fight was at a fundraiser dinner event. Then again, it's been a while since I read much into this so I'm happy to be corrected. :good
Nah, there's footage on youtube (cant be arsed to find it) where Benn goes to his house in tears. G-Man says 'tell him not be sad' Poignant.
