    i assume we are talking who we think ranks as the best, and NOT our favorites otherwise none of these guys would be on my list.

    thats just IMO, but i admit i dont know that much pre 1999 when it comes to boxing :oops:

    Okay seriously i'd go:

    Duran, Leonard then it's Hagler/Whitaker/Pacquiao/Chavez,

    would anyone go for Lennox Lewis? Maybe the weight jumping of others is too much a trump card over Lewis, but he is one of the greatest heavies we've had imo. I'm not a fan or anything, in fact i couldn't stand him as an active fighter (big Tyson fan), but was just wondering.

    Can't really see making a case for that one Teeto, and I like Lewis.

    Fact is he's probably not even the best heavyweight since 75, (at the very least I think Holmes has to be rated higher) let alone pound for pound.

    Great fighter, great champion, but I don't think he belongs on this list.

    Duran & SRL are a must for any non-biased fan... of your other choices I think JCC & Pea both have an edge over MMH & Pac TBH.

    Ps. Id have Holmes & Tyson over Lewis & thats just HWs, he doesnt belong here IMHO.

    Wanderer and Bill

    I've always had Holmes over Lewis, and i used to have Tyson over him. But i've reviewed it recently. Holmes and Tyson have periods of dominance in decent-good eras, but Lewis had a dominant time also, and was truly the man in his time. People penalise him for his losses, but i'm consistent with my thinking that a loss is just a loss regardless of the type of loss it is. To be honest i just can't have Tyson above him anymore, that breaks my heart though believe me.

    Lennox is climbing my heavyweight list to be honest, he's getting awfully close up there as time has lapsed and let my dislike of him fade. Holmes also is one i see as having a career somewhat like Tyson in terms of how it panned out whilst being in his prime. He's got more character than Tyson though.

    On a side note i'd love to be able to say Tyson at his best would beat Ali, but in the real world he'd be well beaten before the fight started. Imagine Ali calling him ugly etc, Tyson would want to kill him.
