When Bute beat Andrade and Bika there were both in the top 5 !

Pascal , Dirrel and JT never been top 5 at SMW.

The rankings can be a matter for debate but not the number one spot though. You gat to see who's a major titlist and who has he beaten in his last fight... All the others can have made a case for themselves as the better puncher, the best packed athlete in there and so on, but the one guy who has the biggest victory is Lucian Bute. The Romanian based in Canada beat Andrade in a rematch and with an early KO and you just have to see that Andrade kayoed the present WBO titlist and only lost to the former WBA titlist Kessler. And why not the present WBA titlist? Simply b'cause his win over Kessler was not as sound as Lucian's win against Andrade. Why not Abraham? B'cause he has kayoed two good Super Middles and only just. Finally why not Carl Froch? B'cause he became a World titlist with a hard fight in winning the title, almost lost it when he delievered a kayo in the 12th and his last win was debatable to say the least. See, quite simple, isn't it?

what this clearly shows is the it is extremly even at the top.

generally with the to get Champion status in the ESB Rankings you need to have the number 1 ranked fighter agaisnt 2nd or 3rd. with the super middleweight we will make an exception. any of the top 4 fighters agaisnt each other will be for the ESB title.

For me its hard to separate Ward - Froch - Bute

If Froch beats Kessler, and Ward beats Green, I think it will be fair to put Froch top.

Bute is in a strange position not being in the S6, his level of competition is obviously gonna be lower over the next 18 months as a result. This will see him drop off the top spot if Froch, Ward, or Abraham can capitalize.

For me Abraham is p4p higher than Bute, but got no resume at SMW so i gotta place Bute higher here.

Clearly Froch. He might well lose to Abraham or Bute H2H, but the fact is his recent resumé of Pascal/Taylor/Dirrell is the best of the elite super-middles.

This poll will only show who has the most fans as most people will vote along these lines.

    Dirrel/Pascal > Andrade/Bika.

    Just my opinion.

If they win a world title or two I'll agree with you.

I'd say, after round 2 we know more who is the #1. At this point, Abraham is the most fearsome guy, Ward probably has the biggest win.

it's hard for me to imagine anyone convincingly beating AA.... I think Bute has the best shot
