All those voting Bute are downright nuts. You can only go by records and sorry to dissapoint anybody, but Bute hasn't beaten anyone of elite class. Librado is good, but let's be honest, the one elite fighter he has faced before he lost to.

Bute's stamina is questionable, I mean very very questionable. That already sheds a bad light on a potential matchup against AA, but not only against AA. You have Froch, Ward all cappable of "fighting to win" (not fighting for survival) the full 12 rounds.

Between the three mentioned, I'd go with AA. His somewhat dull style makes people overlook the fact that... he's an extremely intelligent boxer in the ring. He has faced a decent variety of boxers, against all of which he addapted, while staying true to his gameplan. Only problem with that is... less activity in the first rounds, when he reads his opponents. Thus he can be beaten, if his opponent gains a significant advantage on him before he lets his hands go. The blueprint is there, the one to put it in practice isn't. Maybe a Ward, though... I'm not sure.

Froch is underrated as a fighter. This guy has a titanium chin (granite is not enough). Dirrel's punches which landed flush, were launched with bad intentions, especially in the later parts of the fight but he took them, as simple as that. And Dirrell is definitely not just an arm puncher, his power is considerable, heck, I think Dirrell hits as hard as Froch.
Thing with Froch though, is that as a fighter you can only go so far. His boxing is good, but you could see the class difference between him and Dirrell. Can't bear myself to imagine how Froch would have looked against Ward.

Truth be told, Froch beat Taylor only because of the KO he pulled off in the 12 round, he was losing that fight handily. Froch beat Dirrell for 2 reasons... one judging of that fight, two... Dirrell fought a bad fight, he could have put this fight beyond all doubt, but I guess he's just too inexperienced at this level. You don't go to England expecting to "just win a decision" against a fan favourite. But enough about that, Froch is clearly susceptible to skilfull boxers with lateral movement on which he can't cut the ring well.
That doesn't bode well with being no 1, but that does bode well with his upcoming fight again Kessler. I'd also like to see him against AA. Those would certainly be interesting fights.

Funny ****. The Bute hypetrain will steam right off the tracks when he finally gets in with a world class fighter.

    1. Carl Froch- He has the WBC belt which probably is the more respected of belts, and he has beaten Pascal, Taylor, and Dirrell all quality fighters.
    2. Lucian Bute- He has beaten Andrade twice and Bika. Just bit more than what the others on the list have done, besides Froch.
    3. Arthur Abraham- Only two fights at SMW, but has looked impressive beating Taylor and Miranda two quality fighters.
    4. Andre Ward- Ward beat Kessler so he's number 4.
    5. Mikkel Kessler- Kessler is the veteran and has been at SMW the longest and was the favorite when he got beat so he falls to number 5.
    6. Robert Stieglitz- Stieglitz has the one quality win that the others below him don't have.
    7. Andre Dirrell- He has a thin resume, but has loads of potential and lost a razor thin decision to Froch.
    8. Edison Miranda- He has the H2H against Green, so that's why he's at number 8.
    9. Allen Green- Thin resume, but he has beaten everybody (except Miranda) and has dominated pretty much.
    10. Librado Andrade- Good resume, lost to quality opponents to Kessler and Bute twice, but has beaten number 6 Stieglitz and a quality opponent in Yusaf Mack.

Andrade was no. 3 the first time they fought and no. 5 the second time. He's no. 8 now. Bika is no. 5 at the moment and Bute beat him easily.

Who is Dirrell? What has he done? Taylor wasn't in his prime when he fought Froch and would have still beat him if it wasn't for that last round KO.

The only good win on Froch's resume is against Pascal.

nope froch, has the real quality wins, even if he is a **** boxer, as long as noone beats him he is the number one. if arthur beats froch, or kessler beats him then they will be the second place and ward will jump to first place

Wow, you begin your ESB account saying people who don't think the same as you are nuts. Impressive. Are you a newbie on the forum or a newbie in boxing?

You should look more that the 12th round of Bute-Andrade 1 before writing such comments on Bute's stamina. Bute had stamina problems once in all his career. In all the other long fights he had, he was the guy with the best stamina. Prior Andrade-Bute 1, Bute had health issues, you can read the Ring magazine to inform yourself a bit on that. You don't know Bute.

You say Froch has a titanium chin. He went down against Taylor. :rofl

this is crazy guys. everytime i check its changed. Ward was bottom last night lol.

btw i am going to set up a vote system for each division in the next few weeks. gonna list 15-20 fighters each division and have a link to a survey where you vote for your top 10 from that.

the only issue is that a max of 100 people can vote per division, but still its going to give us a good idea i think.

    let me know guys.

I agree with all forumers saying that it's impossible to crown a guy for the moment. For me, Bute is number 1 but I understand Abraham, Ward and Froch each have a case on the spot.

It's probably best to say Abraham, Ward and Bute are tied on top until we know more about how they fare against each other, or the other names in the tournament.

For me it's Bute. He has a better resume overall than anyone other than Froch, and I thought Froch was given a gift his last fight. If Froch beats Kessler in Denmark, he takes over the top spot. And frankly, Froch's resume isn't that much better than Bute's. H2H, I think Bika beats the everloving crap out of Jean Pascal.

Carl Froch, should be number 1, even though he might be worst of those 4.

    Bute
    AA
    Froch
    Ward
    Kessler
    Dirrell
