Official Pavlik VS. Martinez Poll--April 17th

I think Martinez gets a stoppage win over Pavlik or Pavlik's corner throwing in the towel for upset of the year. La Maravilla has all the tools to beat Pavlik.

 

I dont think Martinez can go the distance with Kelly i really dont , i like Martinez early on but after that i see Pavlik buldozering him and forcing a late stoppage .

 

Nothing unusual in that. 50/50 fight imo.
I quite like KP but you have to admit a lot of people don't rate him.

 

This poll seems like more of a popularity contest than anything else. Pavlik had a rough year, and because of that a lot of people write him off.

If posters cast their votes after careful analysis of the two fighters, the poll would be quite different. I find it almost humorous that so many posters seem to be totally blind when it comse to Sergio Martinez's many flaws. The man is not hard to hit. He frequently rushes in face first. He backs up in straight lines. He circles the wrong way repeatedly. He doesn't keep his hands up. And, he ends up with his back against the ropes far to often.

He is what he is. He is not going to drop all his bad habits in one training camp. He fought the same way now as he did ten years ago against Margarito.

Sergio's two losses came because he can't deal with pressure fighters. Kelly Pavlik is a bigger, stronger, smarter pressure fighter than Williams or Margarito. He also has way better defense, and hits one hell of a lot harder.

 

20% think Martinez will knock Pavlik out? Is there some sort of virus spreading around?

All Martinez has to do is move around a little, show a few angles, and than hit KP with his amazing speed and awesome power. Pavlik will fold up like an accordion with the first flush punch. It may not even get that far. Pavlik might faint at the sight of Sergio's pure majesty and awesomeness. I thought you knew:hey

 

no complete mad martinez can bang and pavilk has been down before.for my money i think martinez takes it on decision.A great fight and with two fighters who both deserve a good win

 

Since I generally enjoy reading your stuff, how would you see a fight between KP and Froch?

I'd be interested to read your analysis of that.

 

Or remembered how hard Pavlik gets hit!
