Even if I accepted the idea that Ruiz had a better resume, in boxing you are only as good as your last few fights. So, when we talk about credentials, we must examine what the fighter has been doing lately. The last five years of Ruiz's career have been a simple, unmitigated joke. He fought 7 times, losing 3 (Valuev twice, Ruslan) and his best win was a close decision against MCcline. Compare that with Wlad's last 5 years, please. :good

To be fair, Ruiz fought a much better Holy than James toney did. Holy was Fresh off of fighting Lewis.

I think Ruiz was robbed by Valuev to be honest. Even Holy was as well. And in boxing when speaking about resume, what you have done lately, doesn't take away from what has been achieved. There is a good argument for Ruiz's resume being better than Wlads. Ruiz has fought better fighters at times when they were closer to their prime.

actually ruiz is underrated and people rip him cause he isnt pleasent to watch. but why bring wlad into this? ruiz has been one of the top fighters this past decade but he still doesnt even compare to wlad.

There seems to be a lot of sneaky 'Ruiz is actually awesome' threads from British posters around.

What could possibly be the reason? :think

That's simply not true. Byrd was a better fighter than anyone Ruiz every fought. Holyfield was well past it and the robbed against Valuev argument is just an argument, since Ruiz has a strategy that almost always results in close decisions. Wlad beat Iggy, Ruslan, Byrd (twice), and a young Mccline, which are far better victories than Ruiz can lay claim to. :rofl

CORRECTION: Ruiz was underrated! He isn't now. He has fought 7 times in the past 5 years, losing 3. He only victory of note was a close decision agaisnt Jamel McCline. I mean...really? Don't you people pay attention. :D

Bryd is not better than Roy Jones (RJJ = ATG and prime, even if he was really a blown up middleweight), nor is he better than Holyfield. Yes Holyfield was past his best, however, HE had JUST came off of 2 fights with the Champ and faired pretty well. If you are trying to make a argument for Wlad, stop being bias. You are obviously a big fan of Wlad's, I'm not a big fan of Ruiz, so I can be impartial. I think Ruiz was more of a wrestler than a boxer, but he had a sneaky right hand. He was robbed against Valuev, but that is not the point. The point is, if you compare their resume, who they loss against and who they beat, Ruiz could out due him in this. Wlad has gotten embarrasely KO'd/TKO's by some really terrible competition. A old, out of shape pretty much retired golfer in Sanders, Ross Purity :)lol:), and getting his head knock off by by a prime Brewster that really never amounted to anything, although he was a beast at his best, which was very short. Are you telling me, that these guys are better than RJJ, Holyfield, and Valuev (yes Brewster is better than him lol)?

It's fine if you're a Haye fan and you want to pump Ruiz up a bit...Just be honest about it for god's sake. Ruiz was a decent fighter, about five years ago. But in the lat 5 years he has been a part time pugilist. He fought 7 times, losing three and his best win was a decision against MCcline. Haye should beat him easy, and if he doesn't he should probably retire.

    That's easy to explain.

Haye is less afraid of Ruiz than he is of the brothers.

Same reason Floyd ended up fighting Mosley.

Less fear generated than by the alternative.

If Haye loses to Ruiz then he's done at HW. Fact.

I'm pulling for Ruiz to win, although I think he was a cheater and a mediocre titleholder at his best.

tua knocked out ruiz on a lucky punch? lol right...one very telegraphed monster left hook sent ruiz damn near flying into the corner....then tua threw some more punches until a right hand on the chin slumped him and another left hook caught him as he was going down...if ruiz ever gets in the ring with tua..tua will do the same thing to him..styles makes fights
