Would you consider him to be one of the very best heavyweights? Like mention him in the same breath as Ali, Holmes, Lois, Dempsey ect, we know his credentials and i personally beleive him to be in the mix with the best there ever was, he beat the likes of Tyson, Prime Holyfield x2 (draw was a joke) Prime Vitali, as well as Rahman, Tua, Botha, Grant, Briggs, Galota, Mercer, M'call, Morrison, Bruno, Tucker Won the WBA, WBC, IBF, (IBO, British, European, Commonwealth) Heavyweight titles as well as olympic gold I know he gets a bit of critisism on here so i want to hear you thoughts and opinions on this and where you rate him.
I use to not like him all that much, even before he beat the guys I grew up watching (Holyfield, Tyson). I just didn't like him in or out of the ring. Though a couple years ago I watched ringside special on him on espn classic, that made me change my mind about him. His fights with Briggs, Bruno, Mercer, and Vitali proved to me he could not only take a punch, but can go toe to toe with almost anyone and come out on top. For those who called Lewis boring, I beg you to watch these fights I named. Also, check out the Ruddick, Grant, Golota, and Morrison fights. The guy was underrated by way too many for way too long. Wlad makes Lewis look like a prime Tyson, excitement wise.
I'm a bit biased in his favour, but in terms of attributes I think he's as near to a perfect heavyweight as we've seen. In overall head to head capabilities I think he is in the top 2 with Ali. His chin is ridiculously underrated, to the point of stupidity.
top ten. when it comes to achievements, then it's very hard to have that many boxers over him. if you can name me ten boxers that have achieved more than lennox, then i'll be very surprised.
Lewis was THE MAN That mofo would have fought anyone. He beat EVERYONE put in front of him. You don't need me to list the names. Just a shame he couldn't have been matched against the greats such as Ali, Louis, Johnson etc. Then I think we would have seen the best of Lewis
Well, he has a fantastic resume, beat everyman he ever faced as a pro, avenged his losses in devastating fashion (well ok one had a mental breakdown but the Rahman rematch was fantastic viewing) and he beat a very dominant heavy (who is still on top to this day) in his last fight when he looked pretty sloppy and old. All this in a heavy division that completely shits on what we have today. I think your crazy
