I just dont see how Lewis can be placed higher than Tyson?!

The general feeling cannot be that Prime Lewis beats a Prime Tyson??

I just feel that any given heavyweight on their best night who fights Tyson on his best night gets blasted out of the water.

Although i did ask Steven Bunce when i met him Tyson or Ali and he was pretty Certain Prime Ali wudda nicked it

*****? i touch a nerve or somthing :blood

Hard facts? you have got to try harder than that, read my first post with Lennox's credentials and then mach it to the 20 fighters you named, i bet only 3-4 tops could even mach it let alone better it,

Holyfield past his prime? he was very much in his prime 99' when Lewis schooled him,

Lewis beat every top rated contender, beat every fighter he ever faced as a pro, he was ancient when he fought a prime Vitali and still well and truely ****ed him up Vitali then went on to re-claim and prove himself as the top HW even today (argue a case between him and his brother) The puches Lewis landed were no fluke and ended the fight.....

    This content is protected

Besides beating Tyson, Vitali, Holyfield x2 aswell as Rhaman, Tua, Briggs, Botha, Galota, Mcall, Mercer, Morrison, Akinwande, Bruno, Tucker, Mason he was British, Commonwealth, European, WBA, WBC, IBF, IBO HW champion and an Olympic Gold medalist what more could he do?

Name me the people who he ducked? no-body, Bowe refused to face him and rightly so as he would have had his arse handed to him also, He beat everybody and never got the respect he deserved from the other side of the pond until he beat EVRYONE,

Wach this it may re-jog your memory as to how great he really was

Side note: i never said he WAS the greatest i said top 5 ATG HW and if those credentials are not good enough for you i would implore you to prove otherwise

The only heavyweight all-time I would bet against a prime Tyson on is Ali. Ali was every bit as special as Tyson was, just in a different way. In his mind he was the best and noone could beat him. Tyson had to everyone telling him he was a monster and that noone was better than him. He needed convinced, Ali didn't.

Physically, Tyson was probably superior to Ali by a little bit. Ali however was mentally stronger and it showed in the ring. Ali wasn't given a chance against Liston or Foreman, but he prevailed in the end, by knockout. Both men were the Tyson's of there era and Ali found openings and exposed them in the ring. I feel Tyson is better than both men, but Ali would find Tyson's weakness and expose it. He would play with Tyson in the ring, and frustrate him to the point he will have already given up mid way through the fight.

    I agree.

But what are we really discussing here?

Lets say you take prime Holmes, Tyson, Ali, Louis, Lewis and Foreman and made a super 6.

You could run that thing 100 times and each time it would end a different way, I'm confident in saying any of those fighters could finish top or bottom.

The degrees of greatness are so small, yet so important.

I'm not trying to belittle Lewis, I think he was a good champion an nice guy. I just find it hard to justify ranking him so high against the ATG's. His resume isn't that impressive imo, I don't rate many of them guys over B level.

I give him his dues, an credit for the Vitali win, i wasn't trying to take anything away from him on that one, but that win in my view is prob his best ever win. That or Holyfield. An we even disagree to when Holyfield's prime was as i say Holyfield was prime early too mid 90s.

This I agree with, but I do believe either Ali, Tyson, or Lewis would come out on top when the smoke cleared. I just can't see Louis beating Ali, Tyson, Lewis, or Foreman. Holmes might beat Foreman or even Lewis, though I think Holmes would lose to both Tyson and Ali.

Your right, I just think it would come down to Ali and Tyson more times than any other combination.

5-10 for me.Lewis was probably the greatest combination of talent and size in the history of the sport (as well as having a good resume)and seems like a genuinely nice person-although I don't like him as an announcer.BUT,he was starched twice by 2 fighters, which, neither of whom will be confused with anyone in the IBHOF,while he was relatively close to his prime. He did avenge both of those defeats, but although once might be a fluke, obviously twice takes away from his legacy.

    That list is laughable.

I assume Tyson and Holyfield were left off because of the obvious "but Lewis beat them" response.

Ken Norton? His prolonged championship status obviously got him on there too.
