I just wait that one day I come on here and there is a thread called "Greb-Tunney I on Youtube". I wouldn't be too surprised these days.

Not only past prime but with a big, strong opponent; Leonard didn't stand a chance. How good a victory is this for McLarnin?

For me, it's not one of McLarnin's significant wins. It's about as significant as Pac's win over DLH.

I don't think much of it. It's a huge name on McLarnin's record but in reality Leonard was washed up and only came back after spending 7 years in retirement to make some money which he had lost in the Great Depression.

    Nice, succint explanation:good

McLarnin is someone who I've got really interested in lately. A bona fide top 20 ATG.

My father was at this fight in 1932, hoping for a miracle to occur...Benny Leonard, then 36 years old, came out of retirement after seven years, because of financial reasons...Some fans wept seeing the old former immortal champ, taking a lacing from the prime truly great Jimmy Mclarnin....Picture a 36 year old Ali ,coming out of a seven year retirement, against a 26 year old alltime great...Can't be done....

Those highlights make the fight look like a complete walkover, but the full fight shows Leonard actually gave him a decent fight (relatively speaking) and showed some of his old class. He even buckled McLarnin at one point with a sneak counter right.
