Why are people complaining about the personality. Hell, if i had liquid case like he has in the bank, id probably talk **** aswell. I like his attitude with the trashtalk and money flashing but he needs to put in the performances against WW competition to back it up. For example in a recent interview he said hed spank mosleys ass, now i expect him to get in their and tear **** up and not be content with a UD.

Rampage?? This is a boxing forum you slug.

Floyd is not the epitome of what is called the sweet science. He is YOUR ideal of the sweet science, but he is not the epitome at all. Most people would think the epitome of the sweet science is a classic boxer-puncher with a varied offensive arsenal and a strong jab, like Ray Leonard. Floyd doesn't fit this description as he doesn't have a great classic/conventional jab, nor does he have the offence (ie combination punching skills) to match someone like Leonard.
Others would think the epitome of the sweet science is a defensive specialist, but there have been clearly greater defensive specialists than Floyd Mayweather, if that is indeed your perception. In that case, you'd go with a Willie Pep or a Pernell Whitaker, maybe even a Nicolino Locche. But it is perfectly valid for those who appreciate infighting to have a different view again of the sweet science, and view Roberto Duran or Julio Cesar Chavez as the archetypal boxer (an infighter with a great defence coming forward).
You see, many far more knowledgable boxing fans and historians than you may have very different ideas over what constitutes the sweet science, and a teenage cretin like you has absolutely zero right to judge anyone else.

    Class dismissed. :hi:

I chose the first one because I really can't stand the guy, but I do think he is the most talented active boxer

The last option is the closest. I don't know if he's top five all time, but he's top three-to-five of all the boxers I've seen - the past 25 years. I can admit to have only seeing ENOUGH of the likes of Ali, Foreman Frasier, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran of the really top guys wo were basically pre-85.

Take the heavies out. P4p, I believe he beats Duran - he always struggled with the slick boxers at lightweight, and Cervantes ain't PBF; he's more consistent than Leonard; no idea stylistically how he handles Hearns (the lighter the weight, the more I'd favour PBF, I guess), and edges Hagler P4P.

Post-85 and not heavies (otherwise people will shout at my Lennox analysis), probably RJJ, possibly Whitaker, possibly Pac and about half-a-dozen arguables. PBF or RJJ are the greatest of the past quarter century, for me. And I really would rather the top two weren't yanks.

You guys are so judgmental it's a shame. Floyd Mayweather is boxer not your pastor, president, congressman or world leader. Give it up already and get off yall high horse. In my eyes Floyd Mayweather is an entertainer/boxer and thats it. Honestly he is a good dude and citizen outside the ring. Floyd Mayweather doesnt drink or smoke. How many of us on ESB can say that! He is a Great father and provider for his entire family not just immediate family. He is trying to create an oppurtunity to set his family up for the rest of their lives. Floyd's only run in with the law has been a situation with an ex-girlfriend and we all know as men a woman has been the downfall to many men. Just ask Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton, Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, Governor Eliot Spitzer and so on. Women will bring you down faster than anything in life. So i give Floyd Mayweather mad props for the man that he is and what he has accomplished in his life. He Damn sure is better than me in many aspects. "Only God Can Judge You" so stop trying to play God fellas and stop being so judgmental.

I ticked the 3 bottom ones, but I only agree with the half of each statement.

I doubt we'd get on but I do believe he exaggerates his personality to sell his fights.
His personality does slightly irk me but i DO rate his skills.
He IS the best (or one of them) atm but won't go down as a top 5 ATG.

Please make your polls make more sense in future.

    Cheers,

    Sil

I don't mind his attitude. I like his skills. He's overrated though, so it kind of puts me off when on ESB. But I still like to watch him fight and rooted for him in many of his fights (Judah, Hatton, Oscar).
