EBU title will probably get him closer to a title shot than a win against Lundy would....understandable from Johns point of view but it would have been great exposure for him beating an unbeaten yank on Showtime

100% guarentee Hatton Promotions win the bid for the euro title fight.

was anyone really taking his US debut seriously. If it was meant to be in march a fight would have been confirmed and Showtime would of asvertised it.

I doubted he would appear so no surprise.

Strange..... there's no reason why he couldn't take this fight then do the other fight in June - which is when it will probably be anyway, if not July.

Hopefully Hatton (or anyone but Mick) wins the purse bid, because Murray's career could quite easily go down the shitter in the next 12 months.

Hatton will bang out the Velodrome for this fight...That Venue is tip top for him building up his stable for contests close to home...:yep

Its the right size, great atmosphere and not to far out of town either...:good

    C'mon John Murray...:happy

Good. Go for the European title. He needs to keep building his profile at home before he can think about going international.

Once he is Euro champ, he could be one or two fights from a world title shot.

Glad that this has happened to be honest. Bit risky taking on this fight, especially in America.. and when he lands that EBU belt his career will progress a lot. Least i get to go and see him in his next fight now. WAR MURRAY

What's the rules regarding purse bids. Can any licenced promotor bid, or only the promotor of either fighter?

ie could Frank Maloney bid for, say Macklin (Hatton) vs Barker (Henessey)?

Didn't even know he was supposed to be fighting in the US but I find that a bit disapointing. Fighting an unbeaten kid in America on Showtime would have been very handy for his overall career at this point.

Getting hit in the head for a living is by definition a risky business...if Murray isn't prepared to get through the ropes with someone who has at least a chance of besting him then he will go nowhere, and doesn't deserve to. I hate careers that are built on the path of least resistance.
