Now that Cloud has pulled out of his April fight with Johnson, can anyone see this fight happening? Johnson is ranked 1 and Cleverlely 3 (2 is vacant) by the IBF.

Win lose or draw it'd be a great learning fight.

End of the year though, not yet.

    Johnson would finish Clevs career.

Bad fight for Cleverly style wise but one that he can win.

Johnson will, in my opinion, test Cleverly more than anyone he has faced so far in his career and although I can see Clevery win by a points decision, he wont look good doing it.

This has all the Hall Marks of a Frank Warren Fight.
I think Frank will announce this very soon.
Its the right fight at very much the right time for Clev.
It's similar to Khan vs Barrera.
Good name for clevs record and a fight he could win. If he wins it well people will start calling for Dawson who at this stage I think might come a little too soon for clev but who knows.

I say make this fight and then go after cloud!!!

    Will,

Why did you write that in poetic prose?

don't see it happening. fight johnson and then fight cloud? that's 2 guaranteed tough fights.

best wait for the erdei/WBO/brahmer situation to become clearer.

also, cleverly isn't fully committed to boxing yet, isn't he still a student? so slow down boys and girls. cleverly is making progress and will clearly grow into a good fighter. but ppl are getting too excited about the brancalion fight. brancalion's defense was shocking and none of you would give a damn about him if it wasn't for the european title.

Not even a big puncher, but I'd favour Glencoffe to stop Cleverly.

I do not see the rush. Would rather see Clev defend his Euro title for a year. He is 22 and not even a full time pro with his studies.

Glen is a tough ******* and would put Clev through the hardest war he could imagine. If Clev got through the opening rounds he would take bad punishment and would probably never be the same fighter again.

I didn't know that...what subject is he doing??

As for a Cleverley - Johnson match-up, why not? If Cleverley isn't capable of taking on the old man at this point then he might as well pack his world title aspirations away (forget the WBO, we need proper champs in this country, not the poor relation)...its a fight that I can see Cleverley winning, but Johnson is a tough as teak old ****er and will make him fight all the way.
