    Marciano - 49 - 0 - 0
    Calzaghe - 46 - 0 - 0

Marciano defeated ATG black fan favourite fighters - Joe Louis, Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles

Calzaghe defeated ATG black fan favourite fighters - Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr

What are your thoughts on this comparsion?

And as a little side game, list 10 discrediting excuses to why these two fighters were undefeated, and defeated these legends who are so many leagues above them.

Edit: The agenda of this thread was not to compare the resumes of the two fighters. Just to see if ESB could acknowledge the comparsion

Joe Louis, Roy Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins (questionable loss anyways) were all past their prime when they lost.

However I feel Marciano's achievements are credited, Calzaghe's resume is not exceptional. I believe he had the skills, but his resume does not speak volumes.

Not even close, Marciano > Calzaghe.

BTW, great avatar, I used to rock that one.

Well ofcourse. Calzaghe is a modern fighter, Marciano is from back in the day, so he has to be better.

past prime louis > past prime jones and hopkins.
    49 > 46

    therefore, marciano > calzaghe

    do the math.

It's a fair comparison. I also agree with Keueng's post.

So pretty much it is one A- level win vs two B+ level wins? That sounds pretty equal to me.

i dont know, people still say marciano beat a shell of joe lewis, i think a prime lewis would have won
i think they will still be saying the same thing about calzaghe over jones (he dose deserve a some of credit for beating hopkins but i think that fight will be debated for a long time)

You would have said the opposite if Calzaghe fought when Marciano did and vice versa.
