Seriously, I think Roy would get badly messed up in this fight. Rocky's punch output and stamina was so good, and he would hit any part of the body, so that slick ducking and reflexes wouldn't help Jones as much as usual. Roy used to like fighting off the ropes sometimes - good luck trying that against Marciano. And god help Roy if Marciano does indeed manage to land one flush to the jaw.

 

Jones is actually the bigger fighter in this one and he would have a significant speed advantage. But Marciano is on another level to Ruiz who seemed incapable of cutting of the ring and making it a physical fight. I see Marciano being out boxed early but Jones won't be able to deal with Marciano's strength and pressure. Rocky by brutal KO.

 

agree with all the above posts. i'm a pretty big (and vocal) supporter of roy, especially h2h. however against marciano he really doesn't bring anything to the table to deter the onslaught. rocky would march forward, cut off the ring and destroy roy. even at his peak, he wouldn't be able to hold him off for 12 rounds, let alone 15.

It has been killed because of excessive use! Every single time a modern fighter is chosen over a classic fighter, atleast one person will spout out this line. Its beyond cliche.

Having said that though, Roy Jones Jr would have to run for his life in this fight to survive and lose widely on points

 

huge jones fan but from what i've seen of both guys at that weight...

i feel that the rock could make multiple mistakes and jones may make him look silly with his quickness like he did to everyone at his peak, but the fight would continue. jones need only make one mistake and the fight would be over. ruiz may be a spoiler but he also doesnt have very heavy hands and is not in the same class as the rock.
