i think it's great news....Why is it a farce ?... If Toney being signed in the ufc is a farce so is Lesnar as far as i'm concerned..

    Lesnar comes from the wwe...
    Toney comes from boxing..

Toney has no experience whatsoever in bjj or grappling (in general)...But Lesnar got subbed by Mir (in their first fight)...and has yet to submit anyone..he hasn't...

    Lesnar's only advantages are:
his wrestling background and his size...

Toney's advantage is striking... if any mma fighter gets too cocky and tries to strike with toney , they'll get koed in no time (just like Sylvia against a past prime Mercer)..

Obviously any smart mmartist would & should simply take toney on the ground and finish him via sub or g&p.

    Didn't think it would happen.

Does he get thrown to the wrestlers straight away or do they try and build him up?

Toney can definitley beat a good majority of MMA fighters at HW as long as James learns how to avoid being taken to the ground which is probably ALL he's been working on. NO ONE in MMA has the strking skills Toney has with his hands. I'm excited to see James do his thing in MMA. THere have been far less boxers who transistioned to MMA and did well at the TOP levels and James eclipses anyone of those other boxers who had success in MMA. Now I don't think he'll become a champion...or not at least right away, but he could get some very legit wins with his skills.

they should def try to build him up....give him some incapable grapplers...he needs someone who'll try to outstrike him for his debut.

I say he should fight Kongo. I predict Kongo destroys him with leg kicks. Boxers have more to worry about in MMA than just wrestlers.

They've managed to find someone Kimbo could beat....So they'll certainly find someone Toney can beat... They should just feed him a guy who'll try to ko him or outstrike him...

Kongo wouldn't be a bad idea.... but yeah.., if Kongo just decides to keep his distance and land low & mid-kicks for 3 rounds... he'll be in trouble.

They need to find an "mma striker". Not a kickboxer....If Kongo tries to beat Toney with his boxing then he's ****ed.

Another positive thing is that Kongo's ground game is horrible. So Toney wouldn't get subbed by a guy like this.

I agree....it's gonna be a learning curve for James but James is a natrual fighter. He'll adjust like he does in the ring and he'll make some noise. How far he'll go I don't know, but I'd bet he can beat anyone on any given night if they make a mistake and try to stand up to james which UFC promotes. They want to see KO's and pay for Knock outs...that plays into James hands. I'm sure he'll loose some if he gets taken to the ground.

I have a feeling they will give him someone from the last season of TUF. I'm sure they will try do a fight with Kimbo at some stage. Kimbo is fighting Mitrione in May, so it might not be his first fight. Maybe someone like McSweeney?
