Expecting Nay_Sayer's response about Marciano fighting "BUMs, STIFFs, Tomato Cans, ole men, and No Hopers".
Somewhere along the way Rocky lands and it's over .. Jones would have to pitch no hit ball and I don't see it ...
Why? Because Marciano, being the fleet of foot that he was, catches up with Jones and lands one flush? Sorry but no. Moore and Charles were great, I agree. Past it, but great none the less. That said, their speed wasn't in the same league as Jones' - even @ 34. Speed kills and Jones is simply too fast for the slow clumsy Rock...
lol at the people who think Jones would beat Rocky. This is FAR Too One sided for jones, i think Jones Vs Ali or Foreman Would be More fair, but Jones Is still hot favorite against both. Clowns
to be fair if were talking just man on man its roy speed and skill would be un heard of in rockys day also it would probeby be a cruiderweght match
while i don't doubt the OUTCOME the match itself would be competitive for as long as it lasts. jones would not get caught right away and would put rounds in the bank with movement and selective engagement. the problem is rocky made a career out of finding his opponents and imposing himself...eventually
Saying "jones Wins Easy" its either a Joke..or the person has an IQ of 1 honestly, Jones Would do well, Till the middle rounds. Jones Has trouble against men that have Power. Rocky has More power then Any man Roy ever got in the ring with, Not to mention the Toughest and most Relentless. Marciano by KO.
i sugest a sticky thread were any hypothetical match involving fighters from differant generations should either take into acount evoluton in man and in training + diet . then recosider there opinion rocky fantastice but roys speed is un real even now never mid 60 years ago
I am kind of annoyed with all the old farts that always say the guys from the good old days were way better than the guys of today. But you do have to admit that marciano is a bad style match up for jones, he wont like the pressure and he was above Jones' prime weight plus he had a good chin, tons of heart and good power. So all of that points to him winning. But not just because he is the old fart pick but because he has so many things going for him that are bad for Jones.
If Roy can move and stay away from him then he can win on the outside. I would have to watch more marciano to make a stronger pick. But because he is a bad style match up I would have to pick him.
he has a point: regardless of age, the classic has a reputation of its own for indiscriminatly favouring older fighters. any match up with any fighters, regardless of style, almost always favours the older fighter. in a lot of cases it's justified but sometimes it borders on being as ridiculous as some of the nonsense coming from the other end of the spectrum
lol at all of the Marciano nut gulpers who dismiss all of Roy's physical advantages over Marciano. Roy has *every* advantage over Marciano except for power.
