    I disagree but only slightly...

First, a lot of Pavlik fans try to say Pavlik ruined him which I think is pretty much crap. After his two losses to Pavlik he was in there against Lacy and Froch not acting the least bit gun shy like other fighters rebounding from a brutal KO loss.

But that's why it was slightly different. Taylor did seem gun shy against Abraham. Could be that he couldn't break the guard with his jab like he wanted to. Could be psychological. Could be simply the game plan because he was in with the hardest one-punch guy he has been in with. For whatever reason, Abraham was in with a tactically different boxer than the one Pavlik was in with.

Having said that, I think anyone who tries to discredit Abraham's win against Taylor is off.

Pavlik almost got knocked out and pulled a miracle then won a fight many though Taylor actually deserved. Abraham comfortably outboxed Taylor, without taking much damage, and knocked him out, that's a lot better than Pavlik's, Froch's, hell, or even Hopkins' performances.

Given the styles, the weight and the stage of Taylor's career... it was very different from the Pavlik losses.

Sometimes it's just a matter of knowing HOW to beat someone.

But I pretty strongly disagree. Taylor doesn't have the same reflexes now that he did in the first Pavlik fight. And he doesn't really have physical advantages at 168 like he did at 160.

Pretty much agree on all fronts. Good post. I have AA winning the S6, but Taylor was clearly more tentative in there w AA. For whatever reason. He was far more willing to mix it up w Pavlik. Having said that though, the knock on JT was that he always gassed himself, so maybe that was a part too. All in all I think the JT who Pavlik beat was more formidable than the one AA beat, but that takes nothing away from AA.

Do you guys not remember the heat Taylor took from being inactive when he was fighting Corey Spinks? That was before he fought Pavlik. He wsa looking **** in his 2 previous fights to Pavlik.

    This is a good post:good

Although i do remember taylor fighting much better in the second fight against pavlik than the first. For one, he did pretty good avoiding his right hand, kept his hands up and stayed off the damned ropes and corners. I just don't think he could keep up with pavlik's workrate.

Exept that the Taylor that Abraham beat had been knocked out twice previously while Pavlik beat a fresh Taylor that didnt have all those hard beatings to the head.

No I disagree by far. Look at the fights again and compare them. Taylor brought an exciting fight and a close rematch unloading everything he could esp. in the first. JT was too tentative against AA.
