My thoughts exactly. I really want to see Toney unleash a boxing clinic on some hapless, extensively tattooed, Bud 'Light' drinking joker, but can he do it?:think Does Toney have it in him or will he be 'grounded and pounded' (as the MMA fans say)? This is the sort of **** MMA needs to get me interested: BOXING! I am definately going to watch this.

I wonder what Slip will do? He loves Toney as well:lol:. Slip might spontaneously combust due to the mixed emotions he will undoubtedly feel as a result of this news.

    have you read boxing monthly?

good interview with him, he started off as a boxer, claims he loves the sport still, makes valid points about poorly stacked cards etc, same points a lot of boxing fans make

To be fair, Frank Mir floored Kongo in his last fight, and he doesn't quite have the same striking credentials as James Toney.

I think that a lot of fans tend to overrate Kongo. He has a very limited skillset and his only top win is over a faded Cro-Cop.

Toney lacks the physical conditioning for mma style fighting. In boxing he sits back rolls with punches and counters. Put him in with an in shape mma heavy and he'll be gased in no time grappling. It'll be interesting to see what his striking power is like barefoot with the small gloves.

quoted for truth... his ground game maybe a bit weak in comparrison to most mma fighters, but he would own toney on the ground, his gnp against al turk was insane!!

i know he got floored by mir,but he wouldnt loose a stand up battle with frank 9 times out of 10 imo... hehas some of the best stand up in the ufc & he could/would devostate toney with kicks

Kimbo's fight with Matt Mitrione has been pulled from the UFC website so I suspect we will hear an announcement shortly regardng Toney's debut against Kimbo:deal

Well, being an exciting fighter, cruiserweight champ of the world, devastating heavyweight performances and actually being the only charismatic heavyweight worth his weight can get you a fight. Talking was part of it for Haye. Talking was all of it for Toney.

You got to have some sharp shooting skills cos as soon as your range and timing is compromised you are gonna face some sort of grapple or strike you are not used to.

Toney don't sharp shoot no more, not that he ever was much of a sharp shooter. This Toney is old, fat and flat footed with great defence in the pocket. He has to be at least 40 pounds overweight (including too much muscle).
