I've come to the conclusion that Roberto Duran would knock out Monzon

The problem is that you guys see everything black and white. I excuse the second Leonard fight. Why? Because we know Duran's habit and Leonard admitted it. I don't excuse Hearns. If you don't train properly for an unification bout than it's your fault and you should get full sh*t for it. Benitez was as lazy as Duran for their fight and won. This is another one that does not count. The world is not black and white and neither are the opinions of people on here.

Imo Duran is a Top5 lw, barely scratches into the Top20 at ww and is Top10 all-time but if someone has him outside the Top20 at ww and outside the Top10 (but inside the Top15) all-time than that's fine with me. There are arguments for this. But the bull**** Pachilles and some others talk is just ridiculous.

Duran gets a free pass on none of them. He lost to Leonard, gave up, and he got sparked by Hearns. He lost to El Radar and he lost against Hagler, and no it wasn't that close.

Do you know how badly I wish I could go around saying Barrera got shafted by A forrest fire, Jay Nady, and a judge? ...My god, if only.

How would you like it if you lived in a commune and 80% of your fellow communer's were participating in an all year round homosexual nut licking orgy?

I have nowhere else to go

Indeed he does... I have the utmost respect for Roberto Duran and have defended him in many threads. But, I am starting to agree with some who say that he gets a lot of passes or excuses for many of his defeats from his appoligists. He was prime for the Estaban Dejesus fight and lost legitimately.. If he was supposedly still green when he lost this fight, then Mike Tyson must have been a work in progress when he lost to Douglas. I agree that he was a bit past it when he lost to Hearns, but let's face it, he got slaughtered... I don't even think a peak Duran had the right stylistic attributes to beat Tommy.... I could go on, but I won't......

Who isn't overrated? How many bull**** decisions did Ali benefit from? How many times did turn professional fights into popularity contests, clowning for judges, breaking every rule in the book and essentially turning the bout into pro wrasslin'?

Jack Johnson has more sketchy results and excuses for them than any HW in history yet he is lionized listed by many in their top-5.

Roy Jones, Jr. fought two very good fighters and tip-toed through the ranks for the rest of his career until even mediocre fighters found the giant target on his chin.

My point? You can punch holes in the careers of all great fighters. I still have Duran in my top 5 all time based primarily on his great run at LW (Buchanan, Marcel, De Jesus, Lampkin, Viruet, Bizzarro among other top contenders) and a defining victory over one of the greatest WW in history. I consider with much lesser emphasis his championship victories well past his prime (Moore, Barkley)... or the sideshow attraction portion of this career when well into his 40's he got robbed against Pazienza and beat a man only a couple years departed from the middleweight crown....

Monzon is more over-rated than Duran.

Bravo. And that's the end of that.

This constant hand-wringing about Duran's "excuses" and ESB is rapidly becoming a new problem eclipsing the old. Pachilles, Addie, Pontius, Pernellsweetpea, MAG, PowerPuncher spend so much time trying to convince us that ESB Classic is a Duran fan-club that they have forgotten how to count. Themselves, that is.

Defending Duran against the same-old crew has lost its charm, especially considering that much of their argument isn't argument at all -its venting.

    Give it a rest.

Well, both men were champs at basically the same time and era, but there was a solid 25 pound weight differential that cannot be overlooked.....

Of course Duran held his own agaianst Hagler in 1983 and beat Barkley in 1989 for the WBC 160 lb. belt, but no way in hell was my man Duran a better middleweight than that of Monzon.....

Pound-4-pound? Okay, I'll agree that Duran was a better boxer / fighter than that of Monzon.... I'll sell that to anybody who care's to listen....

I'am not suprised, you now see him & others for what they really are & thats weak. I think these threads are OK as you get to see who the under cover wet wank chancer's are, as it's natural for sheep to flock together.

Imagine having a beer with some of these gobs, 1st sign of trouble & they'd be on their toes mate leaving you on yer lonesome:deal
