Where? We just mention that Duran beat Leonard in his prime. That's just fact.

Probably but what has this to do with your thread? :think

Irrelevant. He was bested in his prime by a blown up Duran. Leonard took the rematch in a brilliant display but the first is proof that he could be beaten on a "level playing field" as Fitz implies that he couldn't.

For one, that was Whitaker's 12th pro fight. Secondly, outside of the knockdown he suffered in the 9th, he mostly beat Roger up. Lastly, Roger was an excellent fighter in his own right, and a different animal than Floyd stylistically. Floyd is certainly more accomplished, without the obvious flaw that Roger had (that fragile chin), but to say he was "10 times better" is a long stretch indeed.

I figure prime for prime Whitaker takes an 8-4 type decision from Floyd.

Okay ... Duran beat him ... but I'm sure that Leonard would beat him 9 out of 10 times ...

Hearns would destroy every WW in existence today and a handful of ATG WWs as well, what's your point and how is it relevant to this thread?

I'm "sure" he wouldn't. Both at their best, of course.

Well, late Hearns was better than late Leonard, at least H2H.

It's not irrelevant he made Duran quit thus wining in a more memorable fashion. I'm not taking anything away from Duran's win in the first fight but people love to downplay SRL's win in the rematch.

Personally, I believe Whitaker is more unbeatable b/w 135-140.

How is Sugar Ray Robinson not being brought up?

SRR by Mid to Late TKO. NO ONE beats Prime SRR at Welter.

It's irrelevant to the idea that nobody could beat Leonard in his prime which is what's being discussed. Duran beat Leonard in his prime, whether Leonard beats Duran 3000000 times after that is irrelevant.
