He fought a lot of big names and have one of the best resumes and stats but it never seems good enough.

Probably Corrales, although there were 3 months of silence after he knocked out Hatton.

He actually got credit for Judah at the time of the fight.... but now all of a sudden people act as if Judah was a bum or something.

Floyd got alot of credit for his wins in general. JMM, Oscar, Hatton, Judah, etc

His fans play the "he doesn't get any credit" card alot but its bs

Your statement can apply to Pac also. I think the last time FMJ got credit for his win was against Hatton. I know I gave FMJ all the credit for beating Hatton.

Surprisingly, he got a lot of credit for beating Marquez. He got plenty of props for beating Hatton and Hoya as well. Now of course there are plenty of people on forums and some writers who are pretty hard on him, but a good deal of the boxing media has given him a lot of credit for his recent wins. Even his staunchest critics within the boxing media will have to give him his props if he can beat Mosley.

    -- FMJ is scared
    -- FMJ says the opponent isn't worthy due to X, Y, Z
-- Media and haters bash FMJ
    -- FMJ signs the fight
-- Some other fighter jumps up claiming to be feared by FMJ
    -- FMJ hypes the fight
    -- Fight sells gangbusters
-- Opponent looks like an amature due to X, Y, Z
-- Media and haters criticize the win and ask why aren't you fighting...

People don't like Floyd and build up guys because they want to see him get beat so badly. When these guys fail, the media has to give him his props. Doug Fischer actually suggested that Marquez would give Mayweather a tough fight. Now how could he be critical of that fight when he states the guy would give Floyd a good fight and Floyd ended up toying with him for 12 rounds? Mosley is 38, hasn't fought in a year and a half, and has been pretty inconsistent the last 10 years. However, everyone has been claiming since 2007 that Mayweather is scared to death of him. Many are now suggesting that he's being forced to fight him. Now how could any of these people seriously try to discredit that win if Floyd does win?

Pacquiao is the ultimate prize though. He's actually ranked ahead of Floyd p4p wise and at WW. Most of people believe that he's ducking Pacquiao. When it looked like they were going to fight, 60% of people on an ESPN poll picked Pac by KO. Now if Mayweather beats him, he won't have one legit critic out there. It's the same thing with Hopkins. He gets so much props for beating guys that are less talented than him due to the fact that he's constantly underestimated.

He did seem to get more credit for Marquez though he seems to take a lot of crap for it now.

The Hatton fight he was respected for, but many blamed the officiating for the loss.

To this day many say DLH should have won that one.

Do you think he is getting comparable credit to others with the names involved and the circumstances surrounding the fighters at the time they meet others? DLH weight, Hatton corner/previous KO...

Nobody with any credibility thinks the ref is the reason Floyd beat Hatton or that Hoya won that fight. There was so much backlash to the rematch between Mayweather and Hoya due to the fact that most thought Floyd clearly won that fight. Do a poll on here and you'll see that over 70% will be of the opinion that Floyd won. You are always going to have people trying to discredit people's accomplishments. That happens with every highly succesful athlete. I once had someone tell me the 96 Bulls who won 72 games benefited from having two expansion teams enter the league that year. There's always an excuse by someone. Overall though, the boxing world has given Mayweather a ton of credit for his recent success; moreso than the success he had early in his career.

Yep spot on and even though I agree with giving a fighter credit and recognizing that he is better than you thought if he exceeds your expectations, people hate Floyd so much that they lower their expectations for him not based on sound analysis but on emotions.
