I've had the position on Mosley since I began posting on these boards, this has nothing to do with him fighting Floyd.
The bottom line to all this is PAC ruined the maywesther fight and maywesther one uped PAC by selecting the far more dangerous and talented opponent in mosley as opposed to PAC who is veery picking by fighting clottey who stylistically is very similiar to the same cotto who defeated clottey and the same cotto PAC beat, this thread is a pathetic gambit attempt to diminish maywesthers greatness by discrediting an ATF like mosley, I predicted all this would happen over a year ago no matter who maywesther fights he will be villified and no matter who pacroid fights he will be cheered even though when you take a close look paca career has been more protected than Sven ottke
this thread is simply being honest and saying that mayweather has the advantage against shane. that's a tribute to mayweather, not a knock on shane. mayweather has the advantage against anyone he faces. HE'S THAT GOOD. P4P #1 OF THE LAST DECADE.
Mosley uses his speed and power to impose himself when he can on his opponents. He is a very difficult guy to stand and trade with because of his natural ability, athleticism, and strength.
vernon forrest (rip) out boxed him 4x ! 2x in the ams & 2x in the pros ! winky wright out boxed him 2x ! miguel cotto out boxed him for the last rds in there fight on queers street going a 100mph ! oscar delahoya out boxed him in there rematch ! all these fighters landed JABS & RIGHT HANDS on mosley ! im just saying, skills pay the bill folks, skills ! i think shane is a better boxer then what you give him credit to be but i agree with you for the most part.styles do make fights though and mosley game plan want be to try and out box floyd.
More nonsense from a poster who is making a career out of showing how little he actually knows about the sport. Let me get this straight Shane has no versatility? No ability to box? What are you a MORON! First lets deal with versatility: Shane has the ability to fight on the outside as well as the inside. He was one of the best body punchers of his generation. Now is Shane as good a fighter, fighting off of his back foot as PBF. The answer is no. That isn't Shane's style. Shane's pushes the fight even when he is using movement and a jab. It is to set up power punches. But did you just say Shane never fought anyone as fast as him and showed he could box? Then what in the hell did he do for most of the DLH fight? He certainly wasn't walking DLH down.....dip****! And DLh certainly wasn't slower of hand than Shane. Now who at the level of DLH in his prime has PBF fought? Do I hear crickets........crickets......crickets......that's right NO ONE! He had trouble for the opening rounds against a guy who was figured out in 2 rounds and KO'd by Tzyu. And Kostya did it at Zab's "PRIME WEIGHT"! Then you say Shane doesn't......NO not doesn't but NEVER had a jab. Really? I love this myth around ESB. Then tell me what is Shane using in all of his lightweight fights, and his fight with DLH (first one), and his fight with both Diaz and Taylor? Truth be told Shane didn't really start the habit of throwing lead left hooks until he moved up to WW. Specifically against fighters after his first fight with DLH. All anyone has to do is look at his fights against Leija, Molina, Brown, Holiday, DLH, Johnson, Ceballos, and Gomez. Go back and look at the Gomez fight and tell me Shane NEVER had a jab and doesn't know how to throw one......COMPLETE NONSENSE! Then you say Shane has bad balance? What are you kidding me? Now does Shane have the footwork and the ability to fight off the back foot of PBF? No he doesn't. But PBF hasn't shown the ability to fight on the "PIVOT" aggressively against men that are equally talented and bigger than he is. Can PBF push Margo back.....can he push Mayorga back? Not that, that is his style, but lets say he had to for some reason. Injury in the fight perhaps? Could he fight his way to a win, could he push Margo back, battle margo in the clinches? Lets say if his legs were hurt or if he somehow got tired? Would that make Floyd "ONE DIMENSIONAL" if he couldn't? Since you say Shane is "one dimensional because he doesn't possess the ability to fight off the back foot the way PBF can? Fitzgerald your posts wreak of the stench of a casual fan masquerading as a boxing guru.
I wouldn't call him 1 dimensional... in his fight with Oscar he switched southpaw when he needed to and it shifted the fight back into his favor. Now... with that said, in his first fight with Oscar he was a bit different. He moved his head pretty decently. The thing Oscar didn't do then was box. Shane has difficulty slipping a jab... and following up with a right hand, he will move straight back and he can't fight at all on the backfoot.
Shane isn't one dimensional ... I doubt a one dimensional fighter could have the most HBO appearances by any fighter (other than RJJ) ... win championships in 3 different weight classes 4 different times. He's just not a boxer.
Another know nothing. You didn't see the fight in Detroit between Shane and Vernon in the Ams as you put it. And that is clear by the fact you said Vernon outboxed Shane in the Ams. He didn't! They went to war in both those amateur bouts, it wasn't a technical fight the way Kostya vs Vernon was in the Ams. Winky didn't outbox Shane. Winky used a peek-a-boo defense and his size to pressure Shane and wear Shane down. He fights nothing like PBF and PBF doesn't have Winky's size or strength. DLH didn't outbox anyone in the late rounds because he wasn't landing his jab then, and he was getting hit by the much harder punches throughout the fight. DLH was only successful in keeping the fight from breaking out earlier in the fight. And Cotto lost the late rounds he didn't win them. And Cotto wasn't boxing, he was moving then would stop and flurry. You either thought Cotto's flurry was more significant or you thought Shane's lead punches were. That is what that fight was decided on. What do all of these fighters have in common? None of them fight like PBF and all of them are bigger, stronger, and are natural WW's or bigger. PBF poses problems for Shane but you sure don't know what they are. You are simply a: J.A.F.O.
Requiem is basically just elaborating on the points I made very early in the thread. :yep This, btw, isn't the same Requiem who had an avowed blood relation to Shane, is it?
RJJ was not 1 dimensional, but yes, I agree Shane is not simply a "boxer" he is a skillful puncher. I wouldn't call him a brawler as that sounds wild. Shane had has good accuracy, he just loads up on his shots too much. but that's how he works.
Another thing that goes unnoticed is the fact that people criticize mosley for showing weakness against opponents with good jabs even though floyd himself, as well as his uncle roger, have openly admitted that the key to possibly beating floyd; was to use the jab. It begs the question: how would floyd have done against forrest, wright, prime de la hoya, and possibly cotto. All opponents who have good to great jabs. Also 3 out of the four of these fighters jab with their dominant hands; which might explain why their respective jabs are so effective.
Yes it is. I came back for this fight because it is that big. And the thing I love PBF as a fighter. I was the original PBF fan. But I can't stand nuthuggers. And I think PBF should be the favorite. But I know Shane can win the fight, and I know the fight isn't going to go down the way these people think. Everyone at my job was talking crap before the Margo fight and I told them just like I telling these people.......Shane will not be dominated, he will not be stopped and the fight will look nothing like Cotto's fight with Margo. Which is ironic because many think this fight will look like Shane's fight Cotto. And it will not look anything like that fight. They won't make the same tactical errors. Don't worry I am coming with my break down soon enough. Everyone has been guessing and wishing on how Shane can win I am going to tell you HOW I KNOW HE CAN WIN....if he executes.
