Floyd needs to lose May 1st, it will be good for him and Boxing

Even some fighters that aren't undefeated anymore still trash talk and act classless.

 

Whether he wins or looses the sport will go on, but to say he needs to loose b/c it will be better for him and the sport is off. Floyd brings a certain element to boxing b/c of his undefeated record...that along with his personality. But I don't think it would be better or worse should floyd win or loose. It's all about who he fights at this point....win loose or draw.

 

Another covert hate thread. Did Muhammad Ali stop talking crap after he lost? Why would he? He built his career on it. It sells fights.

Mayweather's losing will only help boxing if Shane Mosley comes into that ring with his A game and beats FMJ's ass. That would be magnificent for boxing. Then we might get a thrilling rematch. Even better. Then we might get a trilogy. Bananas!

 

Shane would be his 20th title fight.

 

Ali did it to build a match.
Mayweather does it constantly with no motivation.

It still isn't classy to call someone an Uncle Tom. Yes Ali had a much better sense of humor but he wasn't overall classy when building fights. Mayweather does it to build his fights too. Kind of a double standard I see....

Ali was wrong for that. Especially since Smokin' Joe was the one that actually gave a damn about Ali and helped him get on his feet. Without Joe history may have been completely different. He got called an Uncle Tom for it.

Ali is "classy" though? Ali is a man like Mayweather. Ali sold fights with trash talk. Mayweather does too. No more. No less.

 

If kids are looking to Floyd Mayweather Jr. as a role model, how about you blame the people who are really responsible: the parents. Why is it Mayweather's responsibility to be a role model to children? He is a professional boxer... a prize fighter. Any boxer in general should not be viewed as a role model, IMO.

However, the drive and work-ethic of Floyd could be viewed as a positive influence on kids, if they can separate the mouth from the actual man. Again, that would be up to the parents to make sure a child understands that distinction.

The whole idea of "role model" athletes is pathetic to say the least. If a kid is looking up to an athlete as a role model, that means his/her parents have dropped the ball.

In regard to Ali: Yea, calling Frazier a gorilla and an uncle tom was very classy. :roll: Especially after Frazier loaned Ali money and helped him get his boxing license back. What a classy guy!!!!

Ali is a different class to Mayweather period.

 

Both Pac and PBF need to lose their next fight for boxing to really take off this year.

If both lose then their egos will be put in check and we also have 2 more superstars introduced into the WW division.

That would open the door for rematches and also matches between all 4 of them.

That would be awesome...

 

Floyd is the cancer of boxing, once he loses he'll retire... again and we'll finally probably get some good match ups
