I really hate to back up NBA. So maybe I won't? Williams got his "get out of jail free" card and used it. Expect HBO to land him back on the "go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200" square in the near future though.

So on October 21, George Peterson says the fight will never take place. Well before the Martinez fight, and right after they had been preparing to fight Pavlik not once but twice.


Now... Does that sound like a guy who is scared, or a guy who is fed up???

 

Agreed. I don't see what the big deal is, the fight is postponed a couple times and canceled and Pavlik fights two weeks later and calls out PW and some get excited about that?? Why would PW be in a rush to sign up again with a fighter who was a waste of time?

The other thing that gets me is that Pavs fans use his hand as an excuse and talk about how there's proof he had complications from his staph infection...I posted a link that mentioned him skipping 3 treatments regarding his hands... I don't think he's scared of PW but certainly could have been more professional assuming Dan Rafael was right (which he usually is).

 

The three missed appointments have been debunked by people in a position to know. Bottom line, HBO wants the fight. Pavlik wants the fight. What is the missing piece of the puzzle?

 

The only middleweight that can take Pavlik deep is Williams and that won't guarantee a win.

Agree with this, but it's easily the best fight that can happen at MW.

 

If Pavlik lands that right hand then Martinez is as good as gone ... you notice a trend with Pavlik and his oppenents is that when he lands that right hand they crumble ...

And if Pavlik is shown pushing those big ass monster truck tires ... I don't give anyone a chance.

Have you heard anything from martinez to suggest that he tried to get a rematch and didn't?

 

None of them really pushed for a rematch but I pointed out earlier that I would love to see it.

 

They actually entered into negotiations. They both had the intent on doing it, but for whatever reason it fell through. But neither side refused the other. Makes me think they will eventually get back in there.

 

Especially with marty's lack of defense. He keeps his hands down to much. You cant fight Pav like that.
If you mean K.O. in the 9th as deep, then i would agree with you. Paully gets hit to much and doesnt hit hard enough to back Kelly up.
